Building in Kontakt (5) - embed midi

I have gone through the manuals and I have searched forums. The only thing I have found are references to importing midi files via scripting, which seems unnecessarily complicated.

I am starting to build instruments in Kontakt 5. Let's say it is some kind of rythm machine. I want to trigger a pattern, like a midi file playing the loaded samples.

I see no way of loading a midi file into my instrument. I don't want to go the route of making a script that lets the user choose a file, instead I want to start with a predefined midi file/clip that is basically a part of the instrument.

What am I missing?
