Opening delay when internet not connected

I wonder if it has something to do with Consistency and files from a network drive or streaming service?

So I had a brain spark (or whatever we're supposed to call them these days) and opened Task Manager to keep and eye on the Network tab .. pity NI didn't suggest this.

Anyway lo and behold Traktor opened with out any delay!! BUT ,, and here's the interesting part: when it did open ALL of the wav errors returned!!

So I shut Traktor down cleanly and then switched the internet back on and guess what?? The wav errors were reduced by at least half again!!

I think I can quite state with full authority of diagnosis of exclusion that the app is somehow reaching out to the web even thou Network showed 0mpbs.. and it's not therefore something to do with my local systems.

How else would you explain the wav discrepancy!?

Anyway#2 this was all happening on my sandbox machine so now I have to go through all the rigmarole of doing a full uninstall on the sandbox and fresh install on my Live machine. What a blink faff!

(On my Live machine I don't get the wav errors and I'm assuming the fresh build must trawl for further updates somehow or perhaps they are pushed from Native Access, so hopefully the non internet opening delay will go away all by itself like it did on my sandbox).

Hopefully all will be sorted by a Live gig on Fri because I really really don't want any network elements active on my machine. I'm old school like that and the venue rig is hyper sensitive to say the least .. they just put in replacement amp that someone blew redlining recently. Least if i follow best practice I'm covered I reckon haahah.

I'm hoping I wont have to import my 4 and a half's month worth of music again - which is what NI Support reckon will 'fix' the wav issue. Like I haven't tried that already before contacting them, hah!?

Thanks for all the interjections, very thought provoking

For what it's worth then N.I. are constantly tweaking their Native Access and the NTKDaemon. Even if that had something to do with that then they have not been terribly good at rolling out updates and cleaning settings and stuff after old installations of same.. Do you have the NTKDaemon and other N.I. processes running after start up ? If so then just out of curiosity then after a reboot then try killing the NTKDaemon then open the Traktor application then if it opens delayed then try opening it again..

If it is a software 'phone home' related issue / DRM related access problem then it would be something that N.I. support would have to help you with.. But again there are a lot not documented and as written N.I. have some problems when rolling out updates and making installs which also could account for the variety in experience among users and in the end then what will be deemed as the cause may turn out to be something that looks as having to do little with the actual reason cause of of how one thing can block the other ! Just saying !

Anyway , I don't know what your software (and hardware) keep of logs but some firewalls and routers has logs and you could also try to install some 'network activity sniffer tool' (Google that) , free or trial to see if that gives any info , but just be sure to install only recognized software that are free of malware and virus ! You could try Wireshark , though I don't know that well enough to know if it will be of use here !

The files are on a partition on a local drive on the Sandbox and in a folder on the C:\ on the Live machine and please see comments above, I don't like repetition, apolgies

think it should say above: can't read tags. Its longstanding known issue and NI aren't prepared to sort it out or assist really. the suggest ban infeasible workaround. mentioned above

Tried disabling NTKDaemon to no avail and Network sniffing wouldn't work I don't think because the app doesn't register anywhere until its open. I'm willing to wait like I did on the Sandbox machine for it to eventually sort itself out.

Delay opening due to lack of internet: So I've managed to upgrade the Live machine to 3.9 and will wait to see if it sorts itself out like it did on the .

How I did the upgrade (or Faff Central as I like to think of it): Native Access as it stood wouldn't go further than 3.8. I had to installed Native Access 2 'over the top' of whatever version was on there. The existing version didn't even have an update for itself and also wasn't available in appwiz.cpl too uninstall!! I just had to run the Native Access 2 installer 'Bomber Harris / over the top' styley.

Wav file track errors: Only happening on Sandbox machine, and as NI won't/can't fix what seems to be longstanding issue I no longer care about it .. the same attitude as people who have reported it previously who also couldn't get it escalated due to the support mechanisms' shortcomings -NI only seem to have one line of support!!

Conclusion: Considering we all have to (re)pay for new major releases it seems a very unprofessional way to handle working professionals innit! One of the reasons I'm not seeking residency tbh and why I'm constantly falling back on vinyl more and more as reliable, tactile music medium .. and I've worked in IT for 20+ years hahahah..say something huh..??
