Maschine Plus stability for live work.

Hi all, I'm debating getting a maschine plus for live stuff, or at least less time on the pc. I've been using a mk3 for 4-5 years now.
I've been looking at Web posts recently and the digitakt and mpc live come up as solid live boxes. I have a push 2 that I've tried recently, but its a new learning curve at the moment. Theres a few posts that say the plus is not stable enough for live work.
What im thinking is reducing my instruments and plug ins to just a few on the plus, I find all the stuff I have in maschine a constant merry go round of sound searching instead of just getting on and playing, but I see the plus won't run a lot of the stuff I have on my pc.
IIf that's the case, a laptop and the mk3 what surface, but I also like the idea of taking the plus home and continuing edits.
What do you think? Is the plus stable enough now?

the questions you need to ask, for the answer you are seeking…. should be based around some basic understanding of processing sound…

    so in terms of stability…

if a processor is under a huge load with a small amount of Ram, then one should expect to run into possible stability issues… not becos of issues with software(which is a separate matter)

    so what am i saying??

find out the processor inside the maschine+… then ask yourself would you buy a computer like that to run maschine on?

The M+, MPC Live and Digitakt are all samplers with sequencers but have quite different features and workflows otherwise. It’s really heavily dependent on what you want to do. Maybe you should even consider an Octatrack, which many use as live performance center piece.

I gave my answer in your "Not For Resale" thread here

You need to give us a better idea of what "live work" is.

Here though, I disagree with 6xes comparing CPU's with laptops. Yes the CPU is less powerful than a typical laptop, but it's a CPU running an embedded system dedicated to one task, not a general purpose computer.

The same can be said of other standalone devices i.e. Akai MPC, Ableton Push 3 - the CPU is not as powerful as a Windows/Mac CPU, but it doesn't need to be.

Personally I think at this point in time it's "stable enough", all severe issues that lead to crashes and whatnot seem to have been ironed out but these things are never 100% failproof, theres still bugs here and there.

I agree with @ozon, all those options are too different to be directly compared.

If you find yourself searching to much then use the Favorites system, that seems like more of a production issue than live performance… unless your performance includes loading sounds you never heard to try out, improvisation style?

It's hard to say if the M+ would be appropriate or have enough processing power for you needs unless you give a giant description of everything you want to do but if you're upset the M+ cant play all instruments the MK3+Laptop can then i doubt it's a device for you.

Tbh I think i'm gonna make it work, i'm already a long way down the road with the maschine and still loads to learn. Most of the posts that have popped up (regarding stability problems) are older posts before more recent updates and bug fixes. Best way will be to try it and see.

I've watched quite a few videos online now and the ideal setup would be two maschine plus' !!! lol

Thank you for all your input everyone.

It's always best to have some kind of backup, no matter what you're using - even if it's just using your phone to play some music.
