Traktor 4 Microphone Access + Pioneer DJM-250 MK2

I am getting back into deejaying and bought Traktor Pro 4. I have a Macbook Pro running on Monterey (which is confirmed compatible). When getting ready to give the software my first "spin", I plugged in my Pioneer DJM-250 MK2 which was detected by the software (appears in Output Routing under exact name "DJM-250 MK2" but does not respond in Traktor (no knobs turn in interface). I then did some troubleshooting and see that the final step is really to allow Traktor to "access microphone." Here's where the real trouble is…. Traktor 4 never asked for microphone access, which would ordinarily just mean to manually go into my Macbook preferences and go to "Privacy" and "Microphone" and check off to allow Traktor microphone access…. it never appears in Preferences. I even downloaded Rekordbox in this troubleshooting, and it right away asked for microphone access, and also appeared in my Macbook's "Privacy" settings at the Microphone option. I am stuck in getting this "microphone access" for Traktor. I even uninstalled to see if it was just a hiccup, and it didn't ask second time, nor pop-up in Privacy > Microphone settings for MacBook once again…. any thoughts? Thank you!

Normal macOS behaviour is asking to approve microphone access if any application needs it. In my case Traktor does this the moment I select an audio interface that has inputs on it. It doesn't matter if I confirm or deny access at this point, Traktor is added to the list in macOS settings in both cases. Only difference activated or not. But I can change the setting as desired. At least on macOS Sequoia 15.5 i can reproduce this behaviour any time I try. As I don't have a Mac with Monterey anymore I cannot try it on this version of macOS.
Not sure what is the issue that you aren't prompted for mic access. Do you use Clean my Mac (is known for issues with NI products) or any anti virus software? You can reset the privacy database by entering the following command into the Terminal:
tccutil reset Microphone com.native-instruments.Traktor
This removes the entry for Traktor Pro but as Traktor doesn't show up in system settings I expect there is no entry to remove. As the DJM-250 Mk2 is a DVS mixer it should trigger the prompt for mic access as it has audio inputs.
But as the DJM-250 Mk2 is just a mixer with integrated audio interface an not a (MIDI) controller it is totally normal that using the faders and knobs on the DJM is not reflected in Traktor Pro user interface. The DJM does all this in hardware and not in Traktor software. Traktor cannot be aware of any changes you make on the DJM. Even if the DJM-250 Mk2 would send MIDI Traktor should receive it without access to microphones.
You'll have to setup Traktor for External Mixing in Output Routing. Do the inputs of your DJM show up in Input Routing? Do you even need or want to use the inputs of your DJM (DVS, microphone or recording)? If not you don't need microphone access as Traktor plays to the outputs just fine without.
Your DJM has the latest firmware (from July 2024) you installed the macOS driver?

Thank you so much! It was simply the firmware download. I bought the DJM-205 MK2 recently, and wasn't aware of the firmware download. Once I did the firmware update, and turned the controller back on, Traktor asked for Microphone access! And you are correct, the interface knobs don't react, but Traktor is still responding to my DJM-250 when I turn knobs or move crossfader.
