Impact Soundworks Pearl: audio engine freezes

I'm experiencing audio engine hiccups & complete freezes with a particular library - the Impact Soundworks Pearl Concert Grand, whilst playing using a controller. On my main machine, I've lowered the voice count as far as 80, and it's still happening. On an older, slower machine, it seems to be working at 64. I haven't gone that far on my newer machine because something seems to be absurdly wrong for this to happen - I should not have to lower it by this much. (default voice limit for this instrument is 1024)
Symptoms: the audio will abruptly stop, either for a matter of seconds, or indefinitely. Often, but not always, pressing the panic button in Kontakt will clear the condition.
If I run other, non-Kontakt plugins simultaneously (within a DAW), the others will continue to work seamlessly throughout the glitch.
If I run other (and different) instruments within the same Kontakt instance, their audio will stop at the same time, but their audio bar graphs continue to show activity, which suggests they are are still working normally, and the system simply hasn't gotten around to processing their audio, due to Pearl causing the bottleneck.
I haven't tried running multiple instances of Kontakt yet, but I presume the others, running different instruments, will keep working through the glitch.

I'm in communication with Impact Soundworks, but they're pretty limited in what help they can provide at the moment.

This is looking like it's probably an issue with this particular instrument, but is there any way it could be a problem with Kontakt?
Is there any way I can get more information from the system that might help?

Kontakt Player 8.5.0 (have tried older versions too)
Impact Soundworks Pearl V2.4 (latest at the time of writing)
