Instrument updates in Native Access same size as install?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me why some of my updates are the same size as the original install / the entire library. For example, updating Berlin Woodwinds requires 169GB? I've attached a screenshot.

I can't update because I don't have the required space, according to NA… meaning I don't have 169GB free on the external SSD that Berlin Woodwinds are on.

Cheers!
Sam

I was just wondering the same thing. I have space on my external drive so the updater is running, and showing nearly 3.5 hours remaining! Seems extremely odd for an 'update.' I'll let it run and see what the end result is. Fortunately, I do have the original library backed up as well, in case something goes whack (hopefully not 🤞).

Some of the very new products AND their updates use a newer technology to cut the install size way down while older products DO still require a lot of space.

Remember too that most of these older updates actually require 3x the space.

If an example “old tech” product is 3GB - you need 3GB for the initial download then another 3GB to unpack that installer and finally another 3GB in the actual content location.

The 3GB download and expansion installer are deleted after install but you still need 10GB to install this example.

Berlin Woodwinds came out in 2021 and I will assume it uses the older technology.

Might want to check with NI Support for the exact specs on this one.
