I am not sure what is the final answer to that , but from what I can see then it only does it if you are trying to use/set the instrument for other than what it was recorded with. I mean if I set a PolyPlex preset to something and then record it then it will stay to what I set it to be when I re-play. But if I try to switch to and use another preset than what the track was recorded with then it will not stick and instead then rather switch to some 'default' as you say. I am sure that there is a reason for all of this but I am a novice Reaktor user myself (and not that experienced Ableton Live user either) and have yet to discover why this happens. My immediate guess is that it has something to do with that Reaktor appear to be using more Midi channels, so I don't even know if it is Reaktor that 'switch' something or if it is Ableton Live…

I fixed it , works for me at least. For the presets to stick then first go into the track midi clips properties and assign all the banks, sub banks and programs to none and Reaktor stays on sounds without reverting back to default at play. If the property box says a number then just double click on it for it to say - - - .
