Desperately trying to rate & color my FM8 presets

Hi,

I want to organize my huge database of FM8 presets so rating and color seems to be the best way to do it. But for some reason NI decided to leave these metadata in the plugin's browser but they can't be edited on the Attributes page.

Any solutions?

  1. Probably the easiest way would be to bring this functionality back in the next update of FM8 but I have a very bad experience with NI Customer Service and asking for it seems to me hopeless.
  2. I tried to install a legacy version of the plugin but I can't activate it (Service Center hasn't been valid since 2020). And without activating it I can't save edited presets…
  3. I couldn't find any third-party solutions (for example Zen by BigTick Audio is out of date for a long time).

I have the same problem. I just got FM8 today so there may be a solution I haven't found yet. A kind of work around is you can right click on the Favorites folder and create sub folders. So you could create sub folders for 4 stars, 3 stars, etc. Then you can click and drag the presets into those folders. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Did anyone ever find a solution to this? Clicking the buttons in the Rating column does nothing, and clicking the Color square does nothing.

No for some reason only known to themselves NI decided to leave them in the browser but make them inaccessible to users.

Closest you can get is rating in Komplete Kontrol - however you are reduced to a dumbed down single 'like' rather than the much more user 1-5 system (but then they also did this to Apple Music - ratings got hidden away)
