Can't get out of MIDI mode on my Kontrol S61 Mk3 - Revisited

I noticed that the "Can't get out of MIDI mode on my Kontrol S61 Mk3" case was closed, but I did not see a solution.

I was just going through a usage tutorial on my S61 and I ran into the same issue where the keyboard would not get out of MIDI mode. After looking around and not finding a proper answer I did the following simple steps and things cleared up for me.

  1. I exited my DAW.
  2. With the PC and the S61 still powered up, I unplugged the S61.
  3. I waited a bit, plugged it back in.
  4. The keyboard booted up and everything was back to normal.

So in my case the old tech support joke "did you unplug it and plug it back in again?" actually worked.

I hope this helps someone and I just didn't get lucky.

    Unluckily, it is not a joke. It’s something you really have to do when the joke is the way some companies work
