Light guides

I know this will be a dah moment for me. For instance I have Starlight loaded in Kontakt 8, and this could be any of many instruments. All the LED's are blue but depending on what patch is loaded say all C's and F#'s are green. Many different versions of this example. What is this?

Usually when some keys are different colours they have some specific action that alters the way the instrument reacts.
Just to check, do you mean F9 Audio's Starlight instrument or Native Instruments Straylight?

Whoops I misspelled, Native Instruments Straylight. But that's just an example, many other's do this. I understand the colored keys for different functionality, percussions instruments, modifiers etc. But in this case I load a patch and all keys are blue except for say C2 which is green. Or on another patch all keys are blue, but say C E and F are green across the full 88. I'll take a photo later today to show the forum. Thanks
