how much flexibility & control do you have with the Maschine+ & maschine Jam

About “others to build cool tools for iOS that we can use with the M+”…

Do you by chance use Loopy Pro?

Because I’m rebuilding my “Maschine+ controller” template (unluckily some weeks ago all my projects from the last 3 years have been deleted… so I’m rebuilding them all… a looooong time setting up things awaits me ☺️)… and once it’s ready, I could share it…

The idea is something in this ballpark:

Sorry…I had to compress the video otherwise the forum won’t accept it

i was just wondering… given that you have x2 maschine Jams have you tried plugging in the second maschineJam into the spare port of the Maschine+

im just curious as to what the Mjam would do, if attempting to pair 2 of them to a single maschine+

on a computer 1 goes into maschine controller mode… the other always jumps out of controller and into midi mode

Never tried, out of the conviction that if multiple Maschine controllers can’t be used even on computer, it would not work on M+.

But now you made me curious ☺️

Give me a couple of minutes

multiple maschine jams do indeed work with the maschine software… however the catch is they work with separate instances… albeit instances within instances

    like for example…

Load up a blank standalone instance on your computer, then load a plugin that can host other plugins, at which point you can load multiple instances of maschine which hook to each maschine Jam, you can also switch the maschine jams between the instances by using SHIFT+INSTANCE

    Wow… how curious…

So here is the report: plugging them both and then turning on M+, what I expected happened: one was on, the other not…

    BUT…

Unplugging/re plugging the cables in various ways from the M+, the one working changed from one to the other (still expected)

    BUT….

At one point…they both were on 😶, both doing the exact same thing… switching what one was set to do, the other switched too (still eventually expected in case both would have worked)

    BUT…

At one point… I managed to make them control different things 😶😶. The bottom part (touch strips) are always “in sync”: choosing Macro, Level, Aux, Control, Auto, Perform,… on one makes also the other switch to controlling the same thing

    BUT

The top part can be set to controlling different aspects (Pad Mode on one, Patterns launch on the other… Patterns launch on one, Step sequencer on the other… Keyboard Mode on one, Patterns launch on the other… every combination seems possible 😶😶😶

I suspect they didn’t even thought about the possibility to use 2 Jams connected to M+, but…out of luck, it works in some mysterious way (the fact that it doesn’t work immediately and that plugging cables multiple times at one point makes them work and that it’s not constantly having the same behavior make me believe that)…

THANK YOU… you made me discover something new ☺️☺️☺️

Tomorrow I’ll experiment more on what is possible and what not… and maybe also try to understand which are the right steps to make them both work in a reproducible way

Bonus thing: since the Jams use the USB A ports, the USB B is still disposable to plug the iPad as I was doing before… This could be the definitive setup!!!

    Thank you again 6xes 😉

Nice… I always thought that one of the two was always working in MIDI Mode

thinking about things, even though the x2 maschine Jam's connected to the Maschine+ and partially gives you the extended abilities…. it is still so under utilised, its just not funny… you would likely get more control with say a configurable novation launchpad… becos at least your Ipad could tap into it whilst hooked into your maschine+ for scene triggering and locks

    Could you elaborate this?

the thinking is based on some novation launchpad's being configurable on the note/cc/program changes area… which would also be class compliant… so in theory a novation launchpad pro as an example should be able to create banks of pages….

which is whats missing on the maschine Jam becos of being locked in maschine controller mode..

also given that you could in essence also use your audio4+ becos of class compliance… there shouldnt be any barriers for a class compliant midi controller such as the novation launchpad pro or X to give you control across both maschine & the ipad

    Oh ok…

Yes, if using the usb hub of the 4+ the connected controllers could be used for both devices.

I struggled to understand because now I was thinking about using the M+ with the Jams and the iPad all connected to it (cutting the 4+ out of the equation)

Lol… every time I start thinking to streamline my setup down (to also cut out the variables that often gives problems) I end up connecting more and more things…😂😂😂

i found myself purchasing a Xtouch mini just a couple of weeks ago… which adds 8 assignable endless encoders and the 16 configurable buttons, 2 banks and a single slider….

and like you im also trying to stream line, but find myself winning another auction for a Maschine Jam just yesterday :-s do you think x5 jams are enough lol

At this point I would reach 6… odd umbers are not ok visually… how can you not have 3 on the left and 3 on the right? Inconceivable …😏
