The bottle neck that makes Traktor stutter and lag in all sorts of situations

I tried to get Traktor to stop stuttering while generating stems, to be able to stem separate a wished song from the audience at home parties. I tried shifting my S8 and Z1 through all USB ports, both directly and using different USB hubs with helpful buffers for studio situations. Then I just tried outputting through my internal PCI sound card (Yes really, PCI, Audigy 2 ZS), and the stuttering STOPS.

The graphs stutter as they always do though. I changed to NVIDIA studio drivers, tweaking its settings, disabling all sorts of stuff, 100% DPI, even running it in windows 7 comparability mode - Nothing touches the ~15 FPS that makes reading the moving waveforms so much more tidies. Something interesting is that when generating stems nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA driver) is spiking hard in Latencymon: DPC routine execution time: 1274 µs (way over the safe zone)dxgkrnl.sys (DirectX graphics kernel) also high at 543 µs. Its not like RTX2080S can't draw a 2D graph. Its the same on my laptop with intel iris XE, and my super old emergency backup laptop)

Is the bottle neck in Traktor its graphic routine?

Emm… That's why RME still makes PCIe sound cards. 😁Because they have direct link to the CPU.

What is Your CPU? And I don't think Traktor uses VGA to generate STEMS.

AMD R5 5600X, an interesting model that will overclock all it's 6 cores to 4.68 GHZ simultaneously with the right settings. Traktor doesn't seem to multi-thread much, and/or get stuck with slow/old hardware routines, as those only 6 cores aren't very busy when traktor is stuttering.

As much as I wish I could just buy more single core performance, there isn't much more that money can buy ATM. Those CPUs that overclocks to near 6 GHz gets 20-25% higher score or so in benchmarks, which wont make a noticeable difference anyway, but overheats no matter the cooling and cycles back down to ~5GHz

And well, also there aren't any am5 mobos with PCI slots. So that's gonna be interesting changing to some adapter when a new generation of CPUs, worth going through a hardware upgrade comes around. Some dude, Daniel_K, made a modded Audigy driver pack for Win11. They actually work great! (There are ways to force the original EM-U drivers onto win10, but win11 won't take them)

OK. CPU is more than enough for Traktor.

In this case I think it's the stems generation what kills CPU. 🤔
