Session Strings pro is on my NI account, is registred in NI access, and works perfectly fine in Kontakt Player 7 and 8 (when I open old cubase sessions that use Session strings Pro on kontakt 7 player, I have no problem).

Yes - but what exact version of Session Strings Pro - are you running? That is the key issue here. You can find the version number like so

And if you click in the graphic tile - you can pull up Release Notes which will tell you which version of Kontakt is required for a specific library.

If you have a version of SSP that "requires" K7/K8 - there is no getting it working in K5 - without a full rollback and library replacement to a version that could work with K5 Player.

Have also seen plenty of DEMO signs flashing where a user attempts to use a library that "requires" Kontakt Full - but the user is trying to use it in Kontakt Player - which will not work. Do not thiink this is one of those - but it is curious.

Side note. NI kinda messed up their naming conventions by calling Kontact 6 just Kontact. Notice it stacks ahead of the number version. That used to catch me all the time when I went from 6 to 7.

Agreed. Not exactly sure what the dev team was thinking on that one.

Same twisted logic applies to Native Access right now - they "call" it Native Access 2 - but the version number of the current install is actually v3.17.0

    Go figure.

I've the first edition of Session Strings Pro, and its version is 1.4.0.

But I don't think it matters here : I used on my old computer that exact same version of SSP with the kontakt 5 player and 7.

    So :

    • I have no problem using SSP on my old computer with the K5 Player and the K7 Player
    • I have no problem using SSP with my new computer on the K7 Player and the K8 Player, and it is registered on NI Access. BUT it is not considered activated on the K5P… I'm still talking about my new computer here. And the new NI Access can not find K5P (under any name : Kontakt 5, Kontakt 5 Player, and I've tried to locate it with different "Kontakt 5" folders of my computer)

That's why I think my problem comes from the fact that the new NI Access can not find the Kontakt 5 player, so Kontakt 5 Player is not able to see that SSP is registered.

    Am I wrong ?

This is getting a tad confusing here now - and I think you best bet is to contact NI Support so they can see what is possible.

Regarding your new computer - Kontakt Player 5 is a no go here in 2025 - period - if Kontakt 5 is not in your NI Acct.

How you were able to use it on the old machine back in the day is a mystery because even tho it is a "free" product - it still needs to be registered and activated via Native Access (be it v1 or v2) and will be registered to your NI account.

If you installed K5 and used it successfully back in the day - it should still be there now.
