After failing initially doing the install "the normal way" then I followed suggestions I read here in the forum were to try running as admin and/or installing as admin. None worked. The intention was to communicate what I had attempted already. I've tried it without admin.

Good point about needing the Visual C++ redistributables.

    Here's what I have

Here what I have - known good (very good) Windows 10 22H2 Pro installed in Feb 2024:

You have a few that are outdated.

And do remember - Windows has no facility to update these for you - it is a manual process - as above I use a trusty PowerShell script for this.

There is no guarantee this will 100% solve your issue - but I would at least get the 2015-2022 packages up the version number above. (14.42.34438.0)

I'll update those and use the removal tool and reinstall to see what happens. Any other suggestions for this angry customer are welcome.

Once you updated your VC++ packages BUT before Removal Tool - do this:

Open admin cmd prompt and run:

    sfc /scannow

    Followed by:

    DISM.exe /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

Report back with screencaps of the output of each command

No change after updating 2015-2022 VC++ package to latest version 14.42.34438.0

    Next, I ran

    sfc /scannow

    Followed by:

    DISM.exe /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

I do perform these commands regularly because I update other software often but haven't in a few weeks. Repeated as suggested. No change in outcome but based on that suggestions I have a couple other ideas. If I find the solution I'll reply.

As long as those two come back solid - we can assume the OS is good.

Next stop is misconfiguration. That can be dicey to untangle but the NI Reg tool is pretty good at removing the cruft.

And - almost forgot - if you installed NA v1 - you need to wipe that away ASAP.

These two versions do not play together at all. v1 is essentially retired now - so get rid of it and get v3.17.0 back in play.

I can't get Native Access 2 to run and I think it is due to some very strange installation behavior of the installer which happens invisibly in the background.

If you have very tight security on your computer then that might also be a problem, as yes the installer runs some command line script or something during the installation. It used to be more obvious until it got suppressed I think so there no longer were obvious flash of command script popup .

Did you check my post here ?

Yes after trying some other suggestions, some of my problem is the security settings have to be removed, but I have no clue which ones.

Exactly what security settings do you think you have that are getting in the way here?

Been using this OS since release day in 2015 and I have never needed to set anything special in the way of "security".

    LOL "special" "security"?

I think I'll find the solution on my own, thanks.

After this non-stop roller coaster of a thread - I think most in here will find that as a relief.

Hopefully, this will assist with the installation of Native Access on PC. I'm not sure about Mac.

    1. Install NTKDaemon per instructions: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/5706203334161-Native-Access-Freezes-on-Installing-Dependencies-at-Startup.
    2. If you're still having startup issues then uninstall Native Access ONLY.
    3. Create a New User Account by clicking on the Start Menu and typing, Control… You don't have to create a password for the New User Account.
    4. Make the New User an Administrator.
    5. Next, sign out off your PC and login to the New User Account.
    6. Use the browser to navigate to: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/specials/native-access/
    7. Download and install Native Access and it should automatically log you into Native Access.
    8. Next, logout of the New User Account and log back into your account.
    9. If Native Access is missing, then re-download it again and install.
    10. You should now be good to go!
    11. You may now delete the New User Account and enjoy!
