Problems using S61 MKii to control external hardware synth

Hi,
I'm trying to control an external hardware synth using my S61. I connected a power supply, disconnected the USB, connected appropriate midi cables, but it doesn't work.
My pedal board connected to the same synth works fine.
Is this the right way to go about it, or is there some clever thing I can do in Kontact to get this working.
Any help much appreciated.

Sorry about that.
Not really sure what to suggest other than checking cable and checking midi output somehow and that you load a default Midi template : Managing KOMPLETE KONTROL MK2 MIDI Templates , and try again after power off and on keyboard. In some case the synth could need some setting done.
It is entirely possible that someone else knows more to check with respect to specific settings of e.g. the synth if you tell the specific setup.
Else I can only suggest that you ask N.I. Komplete Kontrol Support if they can help.

Connect device to keyboard midi out and have connected the PSU to the keyboard and the USB disconnected
Then make sure that both devices are using same Midi channel.
General help : 'Using the KOMPLETE KONTROL Keyboard as Stand-Alone MIDI Controller' and manual page 25 and 72

Hi, The device i'm using receives on MIDI channel 1, and by default, the S61 transmits on midi channel 1. I've disconnected the keyboard from the computer, and there is a MIDI cable connecting the two devices. It should work. I have looked at the article you recommended, and I've done what it suggested with no joy.

Hi,
There has been a development. Having disconnected my USB cable, I power cycled the ferrofish, and everything worked fine for a while. However, it has suddenly stopped working. I steer well clear of pressing any buttons on the S61 whilst in this mode for fear that exactly this kind of thing might happen, and sure enough, it has. Maybe I accidentally hit a button, but it's suddenly stopped working. Just to check, I fired up KK, and reconnected the usb cable, and all works well, but plugging the midi cable in again, and nothing works.

@Jeremy_NI , This appear to need your advice.

@Minstrel53 What kind of synth is it? You mention the Ferrofish, which seems to be an audio interface?
Please check the MIDI channel on the active MIDI template in the Komplete Kontrol standalone application, maybe this changed.
Oh and btw, there is a workaround to use the keyboard with both USB and MIDI: Sending USB and 5-Pin MIDI Simultaneously from Komplete Kontrol S-Series Keyboards
