Kontakt 8: Can't I just download the player somewhere?

I don't want the free Komplete stuff, I just have a few plugins which required something newer than 7.0 (and can't find 7.1 etc anywhere). Again all I want is the player. Anyone?

    You still ought to get Komplete Start or at least Kontakt 8 Player added to your account and then download and install latest version of Native Access for your OS and then use that to download and install Kontakt 8 Player , you can skip the rest of the downloads as you please.

    Otherwise then I think that the installer for Player and Pro full is the same. I have a link for this version : KONTAKT 8.1.0 (which is not the newest version)

    in case of download problems then try logging in into Google first, if that doesn't help then copy the download to own Google drive before the download.

    The above ought to help you circumvent the download limit.

    Not via any usual channels like a standalone download.

    NI Support might have a link for standalone installer but you still will need Native Access at some point.

    You can't escape Native Access anyway, it will be required to activate the Kontakt 8 Player anyway.

    Appreciate the attempt, but the file you pointed me to didn't work..I get a "Cannot complete setup" error.

    Thanks for the replies in general. Not sure why people think I'm trying to circumvent Native Access; I'm not. I'm just not interested at all in "Komplete Start;" I just want the updated player…but I guess I'll have to go through all of that just to get it. ugh. Another fail from NI.

    No one is implying you are attempting to circumvent anything. And regardless of whether or not Komplete Start is of interest to you is a moot point as well.

    What is required is Native Access and an easy vector to Kontakt 8 Player.

    If you want to make this as painless as possible - sign up for Komplete Start, get it into your NI account and then fire up Native Access for activation.

    There is no requirement for you to ever install, use or even acknowledge any part of K Start except Kontakt 8 Player.

    You will look back on this as the best plan - especially if/when you need to update Kontakt 8 Player - which will occur with 100% certainty.

    Problem solved.

    You don't tell what is your exact OS version so it's impossible to give any kind of suggestions (plus screenshot of error would/could be useful). However the link has been used by many so the error you report likely suggests a problem in your end more than a problem with the download itself.

    If you are using PC then I also have this link Kontakt 8.1.0 PC only but it ought basically be the same as the previous.

    Another fail from NI.

    From my perspective then you simply have misunderstood the N.I. concept of installing software. From N.I.'s point of view then using the latest version of Native Access for your OS in general is a prerequisite for downloading and installing N.I. software. And as I wrote initially then in Native Access then you do not need to download anything else than what you need. The offering you Komplete Start as opposed to only offering you Kontakt 8 Player should only be seen as N.I. making sure that you get the content presented as and available on your account for download and use but does not mean that you have to actually use or download any parts of Komplete Start that you are not interested in. The manual downloads as supplied by me here is only meant to help in cases where it is very difficult to get the N.A. downloads to work. The fact that I am able to supply you with download links only reflects that N.I. are willing to be accommodating to a certain degree.

    Anyway , I hope that you get the downloads to install one way or the other..

    Well I fired up NA and to my surprise, there was Kontakt 8 available as a download/install…my bad, not sure how I missed it before. So apparently it is available without all the Komplete Start stuff after all. Great, I'm in business, right?

    Wrong. When I clicked to download/install, it downloaded and then said "Installing"….and kept spinning and spinning, allegedly installing for 30+ minutes before I finally gave up, closed it, and tried again…after again taking forever to install, it said "Installation Failed." Foolish me decided to try again; same result.

    I give up. The thing I needed Kontakt 8 was just a freebie I wanted to try and isn't important enough to me to continue wasting my time with this ridiculous runaround. But again thanks anyway for the replies.

    Well - we tried. You did not provide any technical data (OS, version of Native Access etc) so troubleshooting this is difficult.

    Clearly some sort of environmental issue on your end as thousands of users download Kontakt 8 weekly with seemingly no problems.
