Kontrol S49 Mk3 new arpeggiator jitter

Have I missed a setting here?

If I turn on the arpeggiator and just hold down a chord, it doesn't play at all regularly - there is very pronounced timing jitter

Any ideas? Is anyone else seeing this? Is it a support issue (bug?)?

    Hello,

have you one track loaded with kk and just select it once, then the keyboard gets the correct BPM, I will also test this with cubase and see if I have the same issue, of course quantization should be all off within cubase but I guess you have that already off.

Thanks for looking at this. The BPM is generally correct. But it looks like the Arp is applying some very sloppy humanization to the start time and duration of notes. This is what I hear if I have a single piano instrument track and hold down a chord with Arp turned on.

I set S1 to record in order to get the screenshot evidence. The Midi notes displayed correspond to what I hear. I can post a video recording of the S49 if that helps.

No need for a video it's absolutely evident in the picture. I used it with cubase and it sounded perfect for my ears but I just used single notes, if I'm later back I will make a recording too, with chord arpeggios and see what's going on.

Thanks again. I also get it with a single note, with both Scale (Chord Mode) and Arp turned on. In both Scale and Arp I pressed the Shift/Reset first. The overall tempo follows the value set on the S49, but the jitter occurs at all values.

And to simplify things, I closed Studio One and ran Kontakt8 stand-alone. And I still get the same jitter. This is NI hardware playing only NI software.

    I've fixed it!!

For completeness I tried a firmware reset (Settings/General/Reset). And when I re-enable Arp (with and without Scale) the notes are now all tightly quantized as expected.

That was a very strange (and worrying) failure mode - everything else worked fine. I wonder if the developers have added some internal support for a forthcoming Humanize option and it was accidentally left on by the firmware upgrade to 1.9.4?

So thanks again for trying this.

Cool that you have fixed it yourself, on my side everything is working without a reset but that's a good advice for others with similar problems - thx for figuring out.
