Can I save current set up on Kontrol S61 Mk3 before factory reset?

My MIDI through has simply stopped functioning. I had this problem before, mentioned in an earlier discussion, and the 'answer' resolved as a factory reset.

I guess a factory reset will fix it again, but then I'll lose various settings, which is rather annoying.

Is there a way to save my current set up before factory reset and then load back in after?

And is anyone else losing MIDI thru from time to time? Is this a bug or something in my particular setup?

That's not something I've encountered. What do you mean by "stopped functioning" exactly? Is the issue with MIDI via USB, or are you using a more complex setup with MIDI routed to the external DIN sockets? Are you using MIDI 1 or MIDI 2? If you're switching between 1 and 2 you need to remove the keyboard from the Audio/Midi settings when you switch the modes or MacOS gets confused.

I have an M-Audio MIDI controller plugged into the S61 MIDI IN socket, and the keyboard is powered with an external PSU, with its USB output going to Logic on a Mac.

A MIDI monitor app on the Mac shows the S61 outputting MIDI when I play it, but nothing coming through from the external MIDI in (and I've tried both inputs).

As mentioned, it's been working fine since the first issue a few months ago (thread linked below), but now it's gone again, but I'm wondering if I can preserve settings any way if I have to try a factory reset again.

I'm not near my system at the minute, but pretty sure there's an option to save the MIDI templates in the MIDI setup on the keyboard. I'm assuming you're on the latest firmware version ?

You can export MIDI templates to computer and then import them back. Not the hardware settings of the controller itself, I’m afraid.

Yes I know about the MIDI templates. I wondered if there was a way of saving the whole set up.

Would love to work out why the MIDI IN stops functioning though.

I am still a little baffled as why you need the M-Audio controller going via MIDI In at all. Shouldn't the S61 suffice?

Don't be baffled! The M-Audio is an Oxygen - a small keyboard that has an octave transposer. Some sound libraries have trigger keys way down below the playable area, so I use the M-Audio to trigger those notes with my left hand, while keeping the S-61 within the plauable area. It's just an extension.
I also have a Fatar weighted keyboard that I like to use for piano sounds, this goes to a MIDI switch so I can choose whther to use the Oxygen or the Fatar - it's the switch output that goes to my S-61 IN. Hope that answers your query. Now I hope someone can help with mine! 😀
