custom chords

It is not possible to create user chords with Mikro MK3. However, 'json' files can be placed in these locations:
on MacOS:
~/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Shared/User Chords/
on Windows:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Native Instruments\Shared\User Chords\
To access user chords from the Mikro MK3:
-Press the CHORDS button
-Press the Right Arrow button
-Turn the Encoder two notches to display 'User Chd'
-Press the Right Arrow button, Set 1 is display
-Turn the Encoder to access the 16 locations, the display is Set 1, Set 2, Set 3... up to 16
I tried it with 'json' files made available on the beta community. It works well.
Hopefully file sharing for Mikro users.

How did you do that. I created 5 custom chords. I searched on my Mac under Shared but no such file was there?

Path on macOS is:
~/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Shared/User Chords/
so its in your user Library and not shared.

On Windows the path is correct. I can't try on Mac.

can someone share some json files? i want to try out the user chords feature on my mikro mk3 maschine

Hopefully it gets better because having to dig thru the file system and edit .jsons for simple rename or change chord "packs" certainly doesn't make it feel like it was made by a company of this size and importance… It feels more like a Github side project from an indie dev.
I applaud adding something that has been highly requested over the years tho.

Yes I agree, the ability to name & rename directly from the hardware/software, and also to import/export should be next on the list for NI devs. As I mentioned earlier, ability to use (convert) Akai's custom chord files would be cool too - there's a partnership, right? 🙂

Thank you. Got it.

Beafore the update 3.1
New Costume Chords to Pads is improved and easier to use then the old solution with one sound and one group connected to that one sound.
Later pitch up or down tone or octaves and there you have it but this new update is impossible not to see after the update

@Schmapps1 i assumed it has to do with 12 semitones in chromatic scale… but can’t rationalize it beyond that.

Which doesn’t make any sense at all for custom chords. You might want to save just a bunch of A chords in various alterations and inversions. It’s an obviously unfinished feature. Maybe its planned to use the upper four pads for some sort of performance aid like instant transpose or inversions. But as it is right now, those are four wasted chord slots.

@ozon i don’t disagree!

I was expecting something more refined and, above all, more didactic about this feature! It's incredibly archaic. Please NI, give us more assistance in building chords. I'm no master of harmony and I don't think I'm the only one.
For example, when we select the root note of a chord, give us access (via a drop-down list - knob 3) to a certain number of chord types, such as major, minor, diminished, augmented, seventh, major seventh, and so on.
This feature, which has been much requested by the community, needs more!2 -
I'm on Maschine Studio and Komplete hardware, but would like to make my own custom chords - as for now I guess it would be by manually editing the json files, and putting them in the right folder.
Can anyone share a json file with some user chords to get me started?1 -
