    oh boy….. 🙄
that is the monster from hell, not a collection…

however, with a quick look, i didn't found anything weird there, and also the xml syntax is correct

but still, i can't understand why it is so huge

personally, i would deleted it and started from scratch, that's my advice anyway… it will take much-much less time than all the days we all spended here posting hopeless comments…

I keep trying to start from scratch. This file was just importing the music folder, not even running an analyzation. Traktor must be getting data from the music folder somewhere (three computers, same issue) but i have no idea where.

Interestingly enough, if I zip it, the file is like 17KB. It's like its all whitespace…

So, would an audio ID like
    "AMlv////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////3J/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////83/////v/////+f/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////93MmZh2VUMiIhEQAAAA=="
which is over 300 characters be an issue? No idea what all the slashes are about… looks like when I forget to un-escape MySQL result in PHP lol

Thought I would test a small sample of my collection. I took my 2024 songs and loaded them into trakor. right off the hop, I need to figure some way to prevent promo only from giving me ALL THE VERSIONS of the songs lol… I do NOT need 9000+ songs for ONE year. So that is problem 1.

But when I load those files into traktor, it is still 13MB. Since it is a smaller sample size, I tried sanitizing the tags, but the collection file is still 13MB.

Am I seriously the only one with this large file size issue?

A single entry from a track in the collection with audio id, cuepoints and grid is about ~1500 bytes. If you have 60 000 songs that would be 90 000 000 bytes / 90 megabytes.

If my math is correct then it seems the size of you collection.nml is correct.

Anyhow, I loaded your collection and .. it seems fine? I mean if I search it takes about a second to show the result. Is that the problem? But otherwise there seems to be no lag. Scrolling through the collection seems snappy to me.

    13 MB are fine

    Same here!

I can't see any real problem with his collection… it loads quickly enough for my standards (of course, the real tracks are missing, but i don't think that's an issue), even if it is unusually big.

Are we really have a problem here? 🙄
I mean, if your problem are just few seconds, then there is no problem at all!

And - all on a machine that appears to have less horsepower than the OPs machines….interesting

That's just it, math wise it makes sense, but I am being told it is unusually large. The real test will be tonight I suppose. That collection has been cleared and not fully analyzed (takes 2-3 days so didn't have time lol). I did analyze the songs that I am sure will be played so those are ready. We shall see how the loading and searches go tonight.

If good, then I am going to run the analysis (which the consistency check wants to run) and then see what happens after. But in reality, that seems to only add 15MB or so to the file.

If you mean loading the collection, that I have never had an issue with. It is the slow searching (can take up to ten seconds to filter the songs at times) and the program freezing when loading tracks to the deck or adding to a playlist (it always did this, but usually half a second. Now it seems to be up to 4-5 seconds and occasionally just doesn't un-freeze).

I must say I am impressed with this community. Lots of great suggestions, especially when my issue seems to be a little difficult to explain. I really appreciate you all :)
