exporting the whole MIDI of an arrangement

I like sketching a song in maschine, but then I always find myself more at ease at finishing it in my DAW. For this purpose, I load maschine VST with the song I have made and add the stuff I need in the DAW with more ease (live recording, one shot waves, more instruments, etc).

I would REALLY like to be able to export the whole MIDI track of a group/track I see in the arranger view in an easy way. As for now, I understand that I can export only single CLIPS, so I have to manually select a clip and export it in the correct position of my DAW arrangement. very time consuming and annoying!

Do I miss something in maschine 3?

Exports are always been a little cumbersome with Maschine… see having an Export Audio in File dropdown menu but not Export MIDI… or the drag & drop functionality available for single patterns but not for arrangement… or right clicking on the Group name that allows to export midi IF they are Clips but not if they are Patterns (the Export MIDI option is there but no dialog gets opened). And even with all Clips selected or visible in the bottom timeline, the export will not make a file for the whole arrangement, but export only one clip…

I suspect that this is due to things being added in different times without thinking of ALL the aspects that should have been taken in consideration.

What you are trying to do (exporting the midi of the whole arrangement of a group with all the patterns one after the other, correct?) is one of those things. They added the Song mode later in time without taking in consideration this aspect.

One thing you can do IF the groups you want to export include a single pad with an instrument is to set the various pads in those various groups to send to different midi channels and set up a template in your DAW with different tracks receiving from those different midi channels. At that point, you play your whole arrangement recording in the tracks of your DAW.

If every Group includes 16 pads with 16 sounds/instruments, the set up will become even more tedious than rearranging the single patterns in the DAW.

Well…even the first suggestion could be seen as more tedious…

Your best solution would be to be sure to have everything exactly as you want in Maschine in the final version and then export the Audio (from the File dropdown menu) instead of the MIDI to import in your DAW

Unfortunately these are all things that NI doesn’t seem interested in improving… even with the “big” Maschine version 3 “upgrade”…

Thanks a lot! i suspected this answer but i didn't know the whole story

i feel that sending midi out from maschine VST and recording as MIDI in the DAW could work. i will have a look at this option, but i agree is cumbersome.

It’s like if they created a Puzzle cutting the pieces from a big image. Then they decided to expand the image, but the new guys doing it were not so accurate to check which exact blue was the sky, so the new sky continues with a slightly different shade of blue. And sometimes they don’t even check the interlocking shapes…so some pieces don’t even fit
