Connect Mc707 to Maschine+ via MIDI cable

Member Posts: 34 Member

Hello, I'm having problems connecting my Maschine+ to the Roland MC707 using a midi cable. I don't want to use a USB cable because of midi clock sync problems. I'm still fairly new to this and I just can't get the two devices to communicate with each other using a normal midi cable. Can you help me? What exactly do I have to set on both devices? The mc707 is immediately displayed in the midi settings using a USB. Not using a midi cable, for example. It would be great if you could help me. Many thanks. Alexander

Try to change MIDI SYNC in MC 707 from AUTO to MIDI

In 707 you have 4 sync options

    1. MIDI
    2. USB (you have probably this or AUTO setuped already that's why USB cable is working)
    3. AUTO
    4. INT (internal - no external sync enable)

You need to change it to MIDI.

This is link how to do it:

Note: Traditional MIDI connections (5 pin DIN cable) won't show you the names of connected devices. There's no communication like that. It will only show the in/out ports.

MIDI 2.0 will show device names even via DIN MIDI cables, unless I'm mistaken.. However, most if not all hardware out currently only supports MIDI 1.0

Thank you! I will try this.

Thanks for the help! It works really well, apart from a small amount of latency, which I then try to compensate for using a clock offset. So far, however, only in one direction. The MC 707 as a slave. However, based on my previous configuration with the Minilogue XD, for example, I would like to run the Maschine+ as a slave. Unfortunately, that hasn't worked yet. Since I only want to synchronize, I don't need to set a MIDI channel or anything like that, do I? It would be great if you could send me a few more tips. Thank you very much!

OK, I think I've got it now. However, I've noticed that the machine's CPU is really busy. I get a crackling sound every now and then. And the bpm display flickers like crazy. Is that normal?
