hey there!

i wasn't djing for quite a long time and wanted to get in touch with it again. my old set-up is audio dj 8 and traktor pro 2, which does not run on sonoma 14.5, how i found out quickly. :-(
i purchased traktor pro 4 and it does not work with my old audio dj 8. i searched for new drivers but haven't found any…
does traktor pro 2 not work with audio dj 8? and does it mean, i need a new audio interface, too? which one do i need for a set up with two mk5 and a pioneer mixer?

thanks in advance!

    @redraven If your current mixer doesn't contain a compatible audio interface you will need a new one. There are only two current models on the market for DVS: Pioneer DJ Interface 2 and Reloop Flux. Both are not suitable for 4 deck operation (Interface 2 can do two decks, Flux can do three), for 4 deck operation a used Traktor Audio 10 is almost the only option - except for audio interfaces integrated into mixers. But as you talking about two decks both interfaces should work out.

    @lord-carlos I expect that Mk5 refers to Technics SL-1200/1210 Mk5 models. Use two 1210 Mk5 myself.

    @lord-carlos - "What is an mk5?"

    Sorry, but that put the biggest smile on my face for the day!

    @redraven - I'd recommend the Traktor Audio 6 which will give you the pair of phono pre's you need for the Mk5's, and an extra output for your mixer should you ever get into samples or remix decks or stems with it's 3rd output.

     if so, how do i connect them to the audio 6?

    Have you checked the manual? It has phono/line in and line out. Turntables to the RCA ins, and mixer to the RCA out.

    Keep in mind to by the Traktor audio 6, not the Komplete audio 6.

    Here's the Traktor Audio 6 manual:

    https://www.native-instruments.com/fileadmin/ni_media/downloads/manuals/traktor/traktor_audio_6_manual_english.pdf

    Should connect to the side where there are 8x RCA connectors, basically use the same cabling that you use on your Audio 8 DJ and away you go.

    Oh … and now I see the issue, you have found the "Komplete Audio 6" as the one of the very few interfaces that NI still sell NEW … they've removed the Traktor Audio 6 (GRRRRRRR!)

    Honestly, pick one up second hand … I purchased one new when they first got released and it stays in my DJ bag in case I need it … I then picked up another one cheap from "Cash Converters" here in Australia, like AU$120 so it now lives in my car as an absolute backup! They're a really solid unit and run off USB bus power just fine.

    The timecode signal shouldn‘t get through to your mixer. You have the TA6 control panel installed? If not install it and check if there is „direct through“ activated. If it is deactivate it.

    Also you have a mistake in your input routing for deck A: You‘ll have to assign „4: Ch A Right“ to the right channel of deck A.

    oh my, i mean: does traktor pro 4 (!) not work with audio dj 8?

    Hey @redraven,

    last version of macOS that had official support for Audio 8 DJ was macOS 10.11. Inofficial it worked with 10.12 to 10.14 if I remember correctly with some workarounds. At least for Macs the answer is therefore: No, Audio 8 DJ doesn‘t work with Traktor Pro 4 as TP4 requires at least macOS 12.

    Not sure about Windows though, there might be a Windows version which still supports Audio 8 DJ and already TP4.

    Does your pioneer mixer not have an audio interface build in?

    What is an mk5?

    And how many decks or channels do you need to route from traktor to the mixer? If it's just two decks, aka 4 channels then a used Audio 6 might be ok for you. Or reloop flux. Or Audio 10.

    thank you for your answers so far! :-)

    @lord-carlos: unfortunately my mixer (pioneer djm 700) doesn't have a built-in interface. :-(
    as @maniacintosh81 correctly pointed out, mk5 are technics record player . i use only two decks so i need 4 channels per player.

    @maniacintosh81: i only have two decks, so will audio 6 also sute me? if so, how do i connect them to the audio 6? didn't find any description. sry, i'm an absolute noob nowadays. :-O

    @frankle: so there's still the question about the connection. my old audio 8 interface has a propper cable-labeling with line, phono and line-in. do not see any sockets for them in the audio 6 anymore. :-/

    @lord-carlos: thanx for the hint, i almost made a mistake! 🙈 it's so silly that there are two sound cards with similar names.

    @frankle: thnx for the manual!

    yes, this was exactly my problem. thank you very much for the clarification!

    i bought one second hand, should arrive on monday. i‘m very excited.

    and ‘cause i don‘t have any patience, i connected my old set up again out of sentimentality. 😝 it still is working even my old windows laptop. 🤣

    hey there! it's me again. 🙈

    now i got the traktor audio 6, connected it with the turntables (i think i did it right), installed the traktor audio 6 control panel and adjusted the settings as described in the manual. aaaand… it isn't working. 😫

    when the timecode is running, i get an in-signal (phono is activated) but have no rash in the scope display, it always says waiting…

    i din't find any current driver… the old ones do not function, i got an error message while installing the latest one available.

    so, what can i try now? 😰

    thanx in advance!
