MAC STUDIO M2 Ultra | SONOMA 14.2.1 | Compatibility Issues? | Kontrol S MK3

I am wondering if there is a compatibility issue with the Kontrol S MK3 and the Mac Studio M2 Ultra running Sonoma 14.2.1. The reason I ask is I am now on my second Kontrol S MK3 keyboard and the keyboard controls becomes unresponsive after a minute or so. There is no sound from the keys on the keyboard (meaning it does not play). I can scroll and sample sounds until it freezes. -then nothing- I've been on calls with support, and they can not get it to work either. I also want to mention that the first keyboard failed to update and was replaced by the seller, and this second one finally took the update after going through several attempts. The Mac sees the Kontrol keyboard in the MIDI screen but the keys do not play. My DAW (Logic Pro) can also see the keyboard, but does not receive sound. One last thing. I tried different USB's and USB ports directly to the Mac. (The Mac Studio M2 Ultra has all Thunderbolt 4 ports (essentially a faster USB-C) ) Before I give up, I wanted to see if I am the only one with these issues. Thanks in advance...

I have an M2 Ultra as well. This 100% sounds like the standard USB issue. Originally I thought it was a USB-C cable issue, because the factory cable caused me issues, and another shorter cable worked flawlessly. Now I've changed my setup and I'm using a powered USB hub and it's working fine with only the NI supplied USB-C and no supplementary power.

There's tons of USB hubs that will work, but this is the one I'm using with my M2 Studio. I'm actually able to plug this hub into one of the 2x USB-A 3.2 ports on the back of my Studio.

Thank you for the feedback from your experience. I've run through all the USB-C cables I have... same issue. Keyboard freezes and no sound from the keys :/ I guess I can try buying the hub, but if this set up is this unstable, that makes me nervous for reliability.

It's a USB issue related to certain computers. From what I've read it effects both Macs and PC's, something to do with the USB protocol itself I believe.

If you search the forums you will see hundreds of posts on the subject. The official advice from Native Instruments is to use a powered USB hub. There are others that work, I purchased that one specifically because it supported USB 3.2 from a USB-A connector so I didn't have to sacrifice one of my TB4 connectors.

This sounds like the USB-C issue beyond our control, for which the fix is a USB-C hub

Also worth noting that we don't yet officially support Sonoma for KK and KSMK3, but that's coming soon.
