I was wondering how I can listen to Itunes on Mac using the Traktor Z1 as a external audio device.

If you want to stick with your setup, I would consider one of those cheap Behringer, t.mix, soundcraft USB-Mixer.
If you can afford the more expensive Z1, I would recommend that for your use case. You get the Traktor LE software in addition. Although you don't need to mix, you won't need to run more than one program to pre-listen and the interface might be louder. Also, you can use your iTunes playlists in Traktor LE.

You can't have eq features when using apple music so you can't map and control the z1 controller on your computer. You will need a listening platform that offers eq features. As far as I know this doesn't exist and mapping the controller will be difficult. The second way is to use apple music only as a player and make the eq features with an analog sound card and mixer. this is a nice way. I don't have the knowledge to give small device examples on these devices. I think it's not your job to listen to the second track through headphones. because you said you didn't perform. If you say you want this feature, you cannot use apple music. You need traktor pro software and a new music platform for music. so don't listen to the second song i think :) you should find a nice portable mixer.
