MIDI in Stand alonę Mode

I am just beginning with Kontakt. In Stand Alone mode, I cannot access the sounds with my MIDI controller. When I click on the MIDI function, it says OMNI. When I choose one of the Ports, (in spite of the fact that it says Not Available, nothing happens. How do I make a Port available? By the way, all this works fine in Plug-In mode.

do you have the keyboard activated in the preferences as midi input device?
