Manual loop IN/OUT

Is it possible to configure the S4 Mk3 to behave like Pioneer CDJs in terms of manual looping?

Specifically:

  1. Use of a loop OUT button to set a loop from the beginning of the track, having started the track
  2. Use of a loop IN button to set a manual loop with use of a loop OUT button to set the end of the loop

In both examples, the track will be playing.

Or how is this done using the loop knob?

Many thanks.

Not at all. You will have to map your own IN/OUT buttons. Loop encoder on the s4 sets a loop of a specified length (Loop Lengh), beginning (LoopIn) where you press it, deactivates the loop if you press a second time. Open up the advanced tab for Move/Loop controls to see what is happening in detail.

I added dedicated IN/OUT buttons to the S4 in my community performance mod in my signature, using REC and MUTE for setting the points and using the jogwheel to move them around while looping when holding down REC/MUTE.

Also check the s4 manual for using the encoders.

Many thanks - that's exactly what I was looking for!!

I see the 'qml' folder in Traktor 4 package contents contains a 'Defines' folder, but the download does not - should the 'Defines' folder be reinstated?

    Many thanks.

You must keep all folders and files of the TP4 installation where they are (and make a copy of them for safety).

The handful of changed files of the mod must replace their original namesakes without touching the rest of the original files, which are all needed for TP4 to work.

    Happy to hear that! :)

    Thanks for your mod-support.

Also: i can't repeat enough that it's a good idea to read the page 1 quasi-manual carefully. There are hidden gems to be found. :)
