Traktor S4 MK2 audio connection to soundbar/ RCA to HDMI converter?

Hello everyone,

I just purchased Traktor Kontrol S4 MK2 and I'm having an issue connecting master output to LG soundbar or TV. I connected controller to mhy laptop and lapto to TV via HDMI cable. TV is connected to the soundbar.

However, when I'm trying to play music through my laptop it doesn't transfer audio through HDMI to the TV, and the music can be only heard through laptop speakers.

I also tried connecting my laptop via HDMI directly to soundbar, and while it works with sound from my laptop (ex. yt videos), still can't transfer music from controller to soundbar.

Because it doesn't work I'm also considering buying RCA to HDMI converter and connect controller via cinch cable and then HDMI to my soundbar or TV. The only problem is that all converters I can find are video converters and I'm not sure if they will work with just two inputs (L and R audio and no video). Wondering if anyone tried such solution?

Well first of all don't use "External" mixing mode, you want internal. External is for when you have a DJ mixer connected, not just a midi controller.

Second: Soundbars often have a very small delay, which might even increase with RCA to HDMI adapter. Which makes them bad to DJ with, as you can beatmatch by ear between whats playing in you headphones and master speakers. Buying some entry level Studio monitors might just be easier https://www.thomann.de/intl/presonus_eris_35_2nd_gen_b_stock.htm

When you plug in the soundbar via HDMI, can you share a screenshot of the "Audio Setup" device dropdown? Show us what you can choose there.

Aaand even if you can get Traktor to play through the HDMI, on its own Traktor only supports a single audio interface at a time. So in order to get the headphones to work, we would need 3rd party software like asio4all or VoiceMeeter Banana to combine the HDMI and s4 mk2 into a single virtual device. Which .. I had trouble with on the long run.

Thanks for the suggestion, when I try to do it through audio setup and select soundbar directly, it shows that it's not connected:

And when I choose my laptop and then speaker in internal routing it still plays music via laptop speakers:

So indeed buying just entry level speakers might be the easiest idea.
