Discoteca Drums "Listen To" Sound Demos

Just bought the Discoteca Bundle. Checking out the Discoteca Drums, most of the actual drum kits used on the "Listen To" Sound examples for the product don't seem to be any of the actual kits from Discoteca Drums. Am I missing something? For instance, listening to the first audio demo, "Discoteca Drums audio demos - Sostenuto", that kit sounds nothing like any of the kits from the actual plugin. The descriptions also don't list the actual kit presets, but it does list the presets from Discoteca Keys (for instance, "Punchy Italo disco rhythms layered with the rich synths and keys of Atrezzo, Chiaro de Lunedi, Cosmic Arp, Vesper, Disco Nap, Baltimorarp, and Chrome Fantasy.") In fact, audio demos 1-8, only list descriptions like "moody Italio disco beat" or "paired with Discoteca Drums".

Granted, the final audio demo 9 does go through some of the actual presets. So why did NI, for the most part, choose to use use drum sounds in these demos that were not actually from the product?

I think that this might have been updated.

There are 30 Presets with each their set of Patter choices and it's own single shot sounds to add.

So maybe it's not so much a question of you missing something as it is a question of you expecting something. It appear to me that maybe you expect the performer to use only the initial sounds that you get from clicking on the 30 different presets. Where performer in reality may have used one of the other patterns for the preset and even added single shot sounds too (?)

Personally then I am quite sure that the sounds on the demos can be made with what it says that it can be made with providing that you know enough about the product to be able to use it to great enough extend.

Also I just noticed that there is a whole Italo disco Bundle that also comes with a Leap expansion and I have no idea if some of that is also hidden in the description if I look it all up…

While I have already spent a lot of time trying pattern to match the demos then it will maybe take me a lot more time to try to match closer if I am able to.

Also it say that ,quote : "Discoteca Drums was created in collaboration with producer and sound engineer Alexkid. Additional content by Lauer, Freudenthal, Cook Strummer, Okain and John Valasis."

So it is hard to tell who actually made the individual track if one should want to see if there is any additional information to look look up on the internet. The only think I found specifically from Alexkid is this quote that doesn't tell anything specific about the Discoteca project. , quote source (Brian Funk , Music Production Podcast #358) :

I've been doing sound design for Native Instruments for machine expansions for a few years now and I absolutely love doing that. It's honestly, it's a bit like my dream job because I get to make tracks, experiment with things, with different genres.

without necessarily having to finish the tracks. So I make them and it's basically a loop and I'm like, yeah, I don't have to structure the song. That's fantastic. But yeah, and it's been quite fun to do because I get to...

Having spent some more time with the Discoteca Drums (really great product this Ital Disco Bundle 😀) then I think that the 'kit' from Demo track 1 ('Discoteca Drums audio demos - Sostenuto') most likely is the patterns from 'preset' bank "Pulsar de Cuir" , you can test patterns by mouse click on each pattern in Kontakt 8.

I appreciate you taking the time to send a well thought out response.

Thank you very kind of you and I am truly glad to have your appreciation , never having used the Discoteca Drums before I were at it until late last night to find a fit 😁

You mentioned you've been doing sound design for the Maschine expansions.

Sorry if I gave reason to any misunderstanding , that was not I but AlexKid , I quoted AlexKid (my apologies if that was not clear enough) :

Hey Poorfellow, thanks for your thoughts and experience on this. You said this:  "So maybe it's not so much a question of you missing something as it is a question of you expecting something. That is 100% correct, I do expect something. I've been a user and huge proponent of Native Instrument software and hardware, going back to Komplete 4. Such great sounds, so many great tools that work in a perfectly creative workflow.

Thanks for pointing out the Pulsar de Cuir preset. You may be right. The sounds have definitely been processed considerably for the demo, but that could be the one.

The demos I've heard in the past for various NI instruments have always been pretty straight forward, clearly demonstrating the sounds/kits that are included as presets, and easily identifiable when I purchase the plugin and run thought the sounds. And, more often than not, they usually tell you the kit/preset they are using for the demo, at least the one for which instrument is being demonstrated.

I appreciate you taking the time to send a well thought out response. You mentioned you've been doing sound design for the Maschine expansions. I've got to give you a big thanks for being a part of some of the greatest plugins in the business. There might be some things to criticize Native Instruments for, but one thing they've been the best at is making sure their sounds are fresh and well aimed toward current music trends. AND, their demos for their instruments are so compelling. Sometimes I just go through the expansion project demos in Maschine, listening and getting inspiration for a song I'm working on. Those demos are so inspiring. Contrast that with other companies selling plugins that look cool, and may have some great sounds. But their produced demos are lame or dated sounding. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. So again, thanks and keep up the great work!
