Cohabitation of KKSofware in VST 2 & VST 3 formats in Ableton Live 12

Hello dears,

I systematically have crashes of ableton live when launching it

I took contact with ableton support and sent them the crash reports

They saw in there that it was komplte kontrol VST 2 that occasioned the crash.

They advise to only use VST 3 version.

The point is that when doing so, i loose all the VST2s under KKsoftware 2.9 when willing to re-listen or re-wok past productions made of Komplete kontrol VST2.

I followed the process of making 2.9 & 3 cohabit in my DAW, but it seems that this is the cause of the crash of ableton.

This is really worrying

Could someons help me please ?

    Should not be an issue with the VST2 version of KK, I use it in all my old tracks and have never had an issue tho you would likely want to start updating things project by project. Could more likely be the plugins loaded within tho.

    Yes, you can't simply switch to VST3 you need to swap out each instance of the VST2 version of KK then load the VST3 version and also load in the VST3 plugin within KK ideally and you may need to then relink automation if you had any recorded for the instrument.

    It's not exactly a fault of KK with VST2/VST3, it's the poor design of the VST3 SDK that seems to make it so difficult for things to be backwards compatible.
