Capturing stem vocal on F1

Noob here. I got my Traktor F1 this week. The first day I was somehow able to capture a vocal loop on to a remix deck using F1 capture from a stem created on Traktor Pro 4 using a S4 MK3. It was great and worked just I hoped....but since then I haven't been able to repeat this process. The F1 just won't recognize a deck if there are stems files in it. I'm totally confused and can't figure out how to do this again.
Also I'm lost at finding the Loop Recorder on my S4 or in Traktor Pro 4. The guide says it's in middle of mixer but I don't see it! The F1 does have Capture Loop Recorder function but not sure where I find this to try with stems.
Thanks for any advice!

Oh nice! Thanks for showing me where the loop recorder is. Was driving me off the edge. I tested it and was able to get a isolated vocal from stem into F1.
I still can't figure out how I was able to capture a vocal directly from Track A (which had stems created on the track) directly using the capture button on the F1?? Seems like it should be able to do this and basically why I got the F1. Hopefully NI would patch this since it seems to be a weird bug.
I'll use Loop Recorder for now… thanks!1

Switch the left FX Unit display to Loop Recorder. There are two symbols that let you switch back and forth. Make sure the header line (FX Units, Master Clock, Audio Recorder) is visible. You can check in the Preferences. The layout options are scattered among the Preferences pages.
S4MK3 doesn't have loop recorder controls, so you have to do it with the mouse (or map the commands ike you mentioned).
The guide you mentioned (middle of the mixer) must be referencing TP3. TP4 has the loop recorder moved to the left side.
