Strange behaviour with Maschine Mikro MK3

For some time now I've been plagued with constant CPU spikes causing issues with pops and crackling. My Windows 11 PC would also randomly reboot itself for no apparent reason and without reporting any errors, sometimes 5 or 6 times in 1 day. I tried many different things to get to the bottom of it but never found a solution. All drivers / apps / Windows were checked for the latest versions and updated if necessary.
Recently I decided to disconnect my Maschine Mikro MK3 from it's usb cable (no power switch on this device) and demote it to a draw as Its no longer in use since switching to an Ableton Live and Push workflow some time ago. Since unplugging it, no more CPU spikes and no more random reboots. What's more I can now set a much lower buffer and my latency has more than halved.
Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this seemingly strange behaviour or has anyone else had this happen to them?
I should also add that I reconnected the Mikro MK3 and those issues returned so it's definitely related to that device.

Just to seal the deal on your theory, did you connect the Mikro to a different computer, and did that computer also display the same issues?

I don't have another PC to try that theory on unfortunately.
