Very loud (to distorted) sound from Kontakt 8 Standalone

The plugin VST3 sounds all right within the DAW (Studio One 7)

I'm sometimes just playing sounds on my computer, like Spectrasonic Keyscape, and occasionally libraries from Native Instruments, but recently it is impossible to have it play at any reasonable low level. No, I have not cranked up the volume up.

This loudness applies to all libraries I have tested, from electric guitars to organ flute pipes.

It also equally applies whether using the EVO8 or Focusrite Scarlet Solo sound card.

I am using the latest Mac OS udate Squoia 15.2
