Sample External instrument (guitar) when using Machine + in controller mode

Hi - when at home, I like using the Machine + in controller mode with Machine 3 software - but can anyone point me towards a solution to be able to sample guitar in that configuration? In order for the software to "see" the sampling input (which I have set to Line 1 on the Maschine +), I have to set the input audio device to Machine in the software. The nub of the issue is that I then cant hear any output, as there does not seem to be a way of having separate devices for input and output (ie: input from Machine, but output to my PC speakers (or attached USB audio interface). I'm sure this is not the first time this has been asked, so apologies - new user! Many thanks - Nick

That's usually the MO with audio devices - you're expected to use the same device for input and output.

With the Maschine+ in particular (when used standalone) you have to use either the built in I/O or an external one. You can't mix and match.

Also I'd suggest using the mic input for direct recording of guitar, as it's mono and will accept lower level signals.

If it's for monitoring purposes, why not plug some headphones into the Maschine+?

Many thanks PK - I've taken your lead and solved the issue. I have a good solution for standalone (using a DI Box for line input) and I am using an audio interface for line in (guitar) when I have the Maschine+ as a controller for Machine 3 software on my PC. Took some jiggling and had to refresh the USB Audio drivers (Roland Rubix 24) as the outputs were not working initially (hence so sound!!). Bottom line is that I can now get a great signal into the sampler - many thanks for your help!! Nick
