How to Configure Controller I/O?

I have KOMPLETE 15 Standard with Kontakt 8 installed on a Windows 11 Pro DAW and have tried ASIO Driver settings for both my Arturia MiniFUSE 2 audio interface with MIDI, and also FlexASIO.

Kontakt sees both ASIO drivers and my test keyboard controller (Nektar 61), but the only way I can get any sound output is by striking the GUI keyboard with my mouse. I switch to my other soft synths like Vital and Arturia Analog Lab V, and there's no problem recognizing the controller and producing audio.

How does Native Instruments software configuration requirements differ from these other Arturia and Vital synths and effects?

Nothing I do gets any Native Instruments software to recognized my audio interface or controller.

I rebooted my system again and NI finally sees my controller.
    Here is the Audio Configuration

    Here is the MIDI

For reference, here is a screencap from what I was seeing in Arturia Analog Lab V the entire time I was trying to get NI apps to work.

The problem isn't in the ASIO settings or you wouldn't get sound when you clicked with the mouse. In the MIDI configuration go into Inputs rather than Outputs. Do you see the Nektar in there? If so make sure that the status is "On".

I tried different combinations of MIDI out configuration, including this. The problem now is none of the Native Instrument apps recognize my controller now. When I first installed it was displayed, but nothing now.

I don't understand why every other music application works except for Native Instruments.

    I am a bit confused…

At first you are talking about ASIO but then you show us Midi devices…

    • ASIO is an Audio protocol and has nothing to do with Midi, therefor of course, there is no Asio selection on Midi lists.
    • If you want to control virtual and external instruments then you need to configure the Midi In options, not the Midi out.
    • btw, the Microsoft "synth" can be set (and forget) to "Off"… nobody is using it, unless if you do not have anything else for Midi out.

As I said before, none of the Native Instrument software recognizes my controllers.

Kontakt 8 and the other apps don't work in standalone mode, but are audible when accessed through Ableton Live, Reaper, MuseScore Studio, and Audacity ―all of which do recognize my controllers.

Vital, SURGE XT, and all of my Arturia synths recognize my controllers in standalone mode, and make use of the same ASIO and MIDI settings.

Ok, then please open a NI app in stand alone (anyone you like, Kontakt, Massive, Reaktor etc)

    and make 2 screen shots.

One from the Audio setting and one from the Midi Input (actually this is what we need, but just in case make for the audio too).

Are things working correctly now or do you still need assistance?

And out of interest, why are you using FlexASIO rather than the MiniFuse ASIO driver? Unless you're trying to aggregate interfaces under Windows you generally get far better response from a dedicated driver.

My last post starts with saying my controller is now being recognized.

My system's default setting IS the MiniFUSE ASIO and drivers.

I was troubleshooting late at night, fixing food, housekeeping. The wireless headphones I use so I can walk around, doesn't work with my MiniFUSE, but does work with the FlexASIO, and I haven't had the time to figure out why.
