Maschine 3 freezes while scanning
Hello, yesterday I updated the Maschine software from 2.0 to 3.0.
The problem: Machine 3 freezes while scanning in standalone mode. According to the support page, I should delete the VST, VST3 and component files of the instrument/ effect that freezes the scan. I have now done this with 2 programs (Replika XT and Passive EQ). On the 3rd attempt the program crashes with Battery 4.
Surprisingly, the crash has always happened with NI instruments or effects.
Question 1: Are there other options for the scan to finally run smoothly? This can't go on forever.
Question 2: If the scan would have has finished at some point: Do I have to/can I reinstall the removed programs? It would be pretty stupid if the removed instruments/effects could no longer be used just because I installed Maschine 3.
I will initially refrain from using machine 3 until there is a sensible solution.
Cheers
Max

@Mert_NI Thank you! This was the trick that did it for me. Once I enabled Full Disk Access, I was good to go!

Installed Battery 4 on Intel iMac27 5k Retina (2020) using MacOS 15.1. Maschine comes up during scan fine. Not crashing at Battery4. Battery is working too after brief test. Did not test on M3 iMac24 so far.
Had a freeze during start up with a pretty old Arturia Spark plug-in (https://www.arturia.com/products/drums/spark2/overview). Did delete it from library so far to check on it again later.

Checked on Replika XT and Passive EQ now: both installed too on Intel iMac. No freeze at scan during start up.

Figured I'd add on to this instead of creating a new question / thread.
Has there been any answer to how to get this to work? or how to bypass and search for new plugins manually? I'm on a Mac and this has been a nightmare. I'm stuck scanning apps and it hangs on one every few minutes then I'm forced to go and find the VST that's hanging, move into a seperate folder so it won't cause an issue then restarting the Maschine 3 Application again. But this isn't ideal because these VST's are working fine in my other DAWs and i'm going to want to move them back eventually. This rollout hasn't been as smooth as I was hoping. Any help from NI would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe we can start a thread of VSTs that give problems @D-One so we can cross reference as a community?
For instance, I have Waves Diamond, IK Multimedia Max 4, Komplete 14 CE and a smattering of others here and there. I've installed Maschine 3 on 2 Macs without incident. Both installs were pre Sequoia. I've since updated both without issue.
I've read elsewhere that hitting ESC during scan aborts, but maybe this is only after an initial successful scan???

"or how to bypass and search for new plugins manually?"
Just hit Escape during Machine startup. There is also in Maschine somewhere a checkbox, not to do scan at startup.

Thats odd.. When people have scan issues its usually not with NI's own plugins. Have you inspected your plugin folder for anything unusual, like duplicates for example? Do you really need 3 plugin versions? Try disabling AU in the Prefs for example to diminish problems.
I've seen some folks fix it by resetting the databases, do it for both Maschine and KK, see if it helps:

- https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000826178-Komplete-Kontrol-Error-Message-Loading-Issue-Plug-In-not-found-Please-open-the-standalone-application
Do a full scan and see if there are any obvious errors reported in the .log file:
/Users/YOUR_NAME/Library/Logs/Native Instruments/Maschine 3.log
1 Theres no new options for scanning. 2 Yes, at least in the case of NI's plugs reinstalling should be the goal, with 3rd party ones no, because there might be an issue that needs to be addressed by NI or the vendor.
Contact support, they have a support tool app that scans your system for problems, maybe it helps.
Could be useful, I am not sure how aware the folks at NI are of scanning issues, the more data they get the better I guess. At the same time causes seem to differ a lot.
I can never report this stuff myself as I never had any problems with scanning, Maschine 2 and 3 start up in 2 seconds for me, literally.. I'm conservative with my plugs tho, I only use about 10 different vendors.
ESC key should always abort the scan afaik.
Theres only a checkbox for scanning user content at start-up, not Plugins. Plugin Scan is supposed to be 'smart' and only scan newly installed ones.

Please upgrade to latest Maschine 3.0.1 It does parallel scanning for VSTs according to release notes. Also, you can always exit scanning via ESC key at start up please.

I'm using Machine 3.0.1 on a Windows 11 Pro workstation (Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10920X CPU w 64MB Ram).
I had no problem with Machine 2 but Machine 3 standalone freezez an startup scan. I carry the problematic VST (dll) to some other secure location that Machine will not be looking for. I did this so many times - thanks to my free time - and the process is ongoing. I will write the names of the problematic dll's (just for Machine 3) so maybe the developers can find a correlation between them while i continue my cleaning dll work for the rest of my life.

Great work by you!
(On Intel iMac with MacOS some of the plug-ins like the FabFilter ones work fine. Maybe another helpful add-on for developer team.)

Maschine 2 was updated to Maschine 3.0.1. All 1,480 plugins [J-bridged Vst (1), Vst 2, & Vst 3] (3rd Party & NI) opened perfectly. I have even built projects in 3.0.1 with plugins from each of the aforementioned types of vsts. I have recently added Komplete 15 standard and added a new plugin path in Maschine 3 software. Now, upon opening Maschine 3, software freezes at different 3rd party plugins. I have been deleting plugins for 3 days straight, opening the software after each deletion. Scan app just finds a new plugin to hang up on. Its a rinse and repeat process for the last 3 days. Keep in mind, the program scanned each of these before with no issue. I have deleted the database file 12 times, registry entry 6. I have done everything prescribed in the "official" solution link. It is now costing me money, as I have had to miss several session with paying clients. How on earth can this program play nice with all 1,480 plugins one day, then have a catastrophic meltdown when asked to scan and open with the same plugins? I have projects that depend on these plugins, and now Maschine won't open with them? After previously opening fine. I'm confused and past frustrated. I need actual help from Native Instruments Support Team on this.0 -
Update: deleted all plugin paths, except the path that points to VST 3 (program/common file/VST 3). Maschine now opens fine, with quick start up (not very many to scan). I am going to expand to VST 2 folder and re-scan. However, initial point remains....why does the program fail to scan and pass plugins it previously scanned without issue?
