KK 88 mk2 hook up questions

I have a MacBook Pro with four ports usb. those ports get used up pretty quick. I also use a Volt interface from UA that has a midi in and out. I've got my KK s88 mk2 hooked up to my laptop via usb. Question, if I hook the KK88 up via a midi cable to the Volt interface will I be sacrificing any important features in the KK88?

I do not believe you will get any Komplete Kontrol or NKS features by using the stock MIDI port - which is really just for what it says - MIDI.
