New Computer Project transfer problems?

*** I have seen this posted elsewhere and did not find a solution in any existing thread ***

I switched to an M2 Ultra Studio from an M2 mac and now many of my previously accessible projects are no longer. I have the same issue whether I clone the computer directly or do a completely fresh install on the new computer.

  1. When loading an old project in Ableton, I get the message "One or more Kontakt instances cannot be recalled correctly, perhaps due to missing content. Please open any Kontakt instance in your host, Komplete Kontrol or Maschine to resolve the issue."
  2. Once I get this message, the project forces Ableton into a non-responsive state and I have to Force Quit the app.
  3. I can start these projects by holding option + double clicking to disable third party plugins.

I've tried installing legacy libraries and get the same issue…

Incredibly discouraging. This is multiple years worth of music that's just gone.

Thank you.

How did you install the libraries to this new computer? How do the products show in Native Access on this new computer? Installed, not installed?

Have you tried to open Kontakt in standalone? Is everything working as expected there?

How did you install the libraries to this new computer?

I tried cloning an older M2 Mac. Had the same issue. For that reason, I completely wiped the computer and installed fresh copies using Native Access. Did not fix the problem.

    Installed.

Have you tried to open Kontakt in standalone? Is everything working as expected there?

Yes. Everything works as expected in standalone.

    Please advise.

Re-reading the thread, this question popped up. How old are these projects? Were they made on the M2 Mac or on anolder Intel Mac? Have you tried to open thse projects in Rosetta mode? How to Open Your DAW Using Rosetta

When you say you wiped out everything do you mean that you reinstalled everything, including the libraries?

You could try to reset Kontakt's database.

    Reinitialize the Kontakt Database

    1. Hold down the alt key on your computer's keyboard and click Go in the Finder menu bar. Choose the appearing Library entry in the drop-down menu.
    2. Navigate to Application Support > Native Instruments.
    3. Depending on the Kontakt version you are using, delete the following folder:
      Kontakt 5: "Kontakt 5"
      Kontakt 6: "Kontakt"
      Kontakt 7: "Kontakt 7"
      Kontakt 8: "Kontakt 8"
    4. Start Kontakt as a standalone application (not in your DAW).

I deleted that folder and it doesn't change anything. Everything is the same. No re-initialization happened.

By the way, thank you for your time, Jeremy.

Some were made on the M2. Some were made on an older 2017 Mac Pro. Did not have the same issue switching from the Mac Pro to the M2.

I have tried using Rosetta mode, but I don't recall the outcome. It wasn't favorable. I will try again when I get home tonight.

When you say you wiped out everything do you mean that you reinstalled everything, including the libraries?

Yep. Complete cleared the hard disk and reinstalled everything using native access instead of cloning the M2.

    Thanks you!

Ok, let me know, depending on the outcome I'll get in touch with you by email so my colleagues can have a deeper look in your system and issue.

Hi there - tried opening a troubled project with Rosetta enabled. Same issue. Here's a crash report, if that's helpful. Thanks.
