why cant iI get the vst version of kontakt?
okay so for quite some time I needed a good vst that has good orchestral library for free and thats why I downloaded the kontakt player 8. I followed all the steps suggested by the site, like install native access first then download the Kontakt 8 player… but when I installed the plugin… it just downloaded the standalone version without any vst version.. refer to the pictures below -
the installation path dialog box doesn't mention the vst location and I even scanned the whole system but couldn't find it. refer to pictures below again -
if anyone knows what to do… help me a bit if you don't mind? would appreciate alott!!

That is not the directory I asked for.
We need to see:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

No. Those locations in the NI app - are quickly fading away and are there strictly for compatibility reasons.
The 32bit path has been retired for years - but it's still available if that's your thing.
The 64Bit path houses VST2 format plugins - which are all on their way out as well.
VST3 is the current standard and it's path is set by the system and all vendors are required to use it automatically.
All modern NI apps - like Kontakt - no longer ship any VST2 versions - so all you will ever get is a VST3

You need to use VST3, I don’t think there is a VST2 version anymore

Yupp... I looked into it but it's not there

No you showed the installation path for the app not the plugin, you will find that in Native access settings and can also change it from there if it is not in the same location as your other VST3 plugins

I showed you the available standalone version of kontakt 8 which it installed... The other two are the folders where the vst or the vst3 should have installed but it didnt...

I know but not Native Access which is what installs the plugins. What path is set there for VST3 plugins?

C: > program files > VSTPlugins 32 bits - for 32 bit vst's
C: > program files > VSTPlugins 64 bits - for 64 but vst's

Show us this entire screen: (here is mine)
The VST3 directory is set by the system and is not displayed here - nor can it be altered.
Give us a screencap of your VST3 directory as well.
Finally - do a search of your C:\ drive looking for Kontakt 8.vst3

That screen is completely normal.
Still would like to see what your actual VST3 directory looks like (and what is in it):
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
