Assignment of Inputs in Komplete Audio 6 Mk II

My DAW software recognizes the 6 possible inputs from the interface. I am actually using only IN 1 to convert a mixer output, and the S/PDIF Input to receive my CD player's output. The problem (if it is a problem) is that it won't process the S/PDIF Input unless I change Input 1 to S/PDIF in the DAW (Sound Forge) audio preference options. But then when I want to receive the mixer connected to IN 1 on the interface, I have to reverse that change.
