Not a good business practice!

in Maschine

A month or so ago I purchased Traktor Pro 4 update. And now, new hardware comes out that includes it. So, without much debate really, I will not update to Maschine 3 until a new Maschine model comes out WITH the software. I was burned once. Not going to happen again no matter the reassurances that no new Maschine hardware is coming. I am actually one pissed off customer at the current time.

    Should they release new hardware that doesn't come with the newest software? Should they only release software updates when they release new hardware? What exactly are you upset about?

    You'll have a long wait on your hands then, as NI have already said there are no plans for new Maschine hardware. I'm not quite understanding the logic of wanting to pay more (for the hardware), just to get "free" software, when the software upgrade is cheaper.

    Releasing software knowing full well that the new hardware soon to be released will come with the software update included. It is a cash grab. In this case I fell for it and bought the software before the hardware was released. Now, I get a free copy with the hardware that I just purchased. In effect I have paid for the software twice.

    Glad to do so now. Not a problem at all with me. I would have bought the new Z1 either way as I like to get the latest and greatest from NI when it comes to hardware. They build good equipment. I am really having trouble believing people do not understand what I am talking about.

    The hardware always comes with the (current) software though. NI have always done that, so it's nothing new. If you buy more than one NI product, you get more than one software license.

    PK, I am relatively new to NI - within the last year - so it seems not so good of a practice to me to release the software, then less than two months later release a controller that includes it for free. I see your point but I think I have one as well. It is what it is but like I said I learned the pattern in one shot. So, no software bonus buy for NI from me on the Maschine 3 software. I can wait it out for as long as it takes on new hardware that will come with the software anyway. Why pay for "early access" to the software. In my case I need the dollars worse than NI.

    i agree… NI has built some great hardware, i believe their best hardware built to date is the Maschine Jam… it is just so versatile, within their own software space… but more so, outside of the NI's software..

    the hope of a software+hardware bundle is a wait & see game… being patient in this area is always advisable, as there is likely teething problems in software, which will leave a bad taste in peoples mouths if there was ever a bundled software+hardware combo with continual issues.

    I support @dexl here, even though it is weired to release Sofware Update befor new HW, If you now buy a new HW with Traktor included, you have two licences, so you can sell one. (I have 3 or 4 Traktor Pro3 Licences with all the HW I bought
    I bought the Nacht&Void Bundle when it came out and now decided to Upgrade my Komplete 15 wich included these two 🤷‍♂️ - happens

    There where multiple hardware you could have bought on traktor 4 release that would have given you tp4 as well.

    Can you explain what NI should have done different?

    Thanks all for the comments. NI is appreciated and I think my wording on the beginning of this post was too strong. I do support NI and will continue to do so but just like everything in the tech/software/music production arena, the newest and best might be tomorrow or might not. I may end up rethinking my stance on this but you are all right. I could sell the extra licenses and me being as new as I am to NI I had never really thought about it or thought to look it up. So, my apologies to NI in general on this one.

    How could NI have known that Z1 is the interface you intend to use with your Traktor 4 license? For all they know, you might have just wanted to buy the license and would've had all the hardware to use it with already.. Just sell off your surplus license and move on bro
