Troubleshooting Audio Glitches When Switching Master Tracks on Traktor Pro 4 with S2 MK3

When I’m playing a set with a SYNC function ON, I have one track as the master, and I’m cueing up another track. Everything seems fine until I pause or fade out the original master track. At that moment, the audio glitches, creating an unwanted stutter in my mix. This has happened multiple times, and it’s really affecting my performance.

So far, I've attempted the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Various buffer sizes - 64 - 1024
  • Multi Core processing vs not multi core.

What happens when you switch which deck is master before turning off the master deck and leaving it to Traktor's AUTO switch to handle it?

And what happens if you turn AUTO off and also do a manual switch, before and/or after turning off the master deck?

    thanks for prompt reply!

I tried switching off AUTO function and had Master on the main track (B). I took down the volume so let's imagine I've done a transition to track (A) and stopped track (B) (MASTER). You can clearly see what's happening at 7th sec of this video:

    Okay, two more tests.

What happens when you switch tempo master from deck to CLOCK before turning of the deck?

What happens when you turn BEAT SYNC to TEMPO SYNC (in PREFERENCES menu)?

This is really strange behaviour on your machine…

I got this error on Traktor 3 and upgraded to Traktor 4 with a hope that it will disappear.

I didn't understand what you meant by "switch tempo master from deck to clock".

If I don't press CUE and press Pause button, then I don't get the stutter and everything goes smootly.

I however have great news, that "turn BEAT SYNC to TEMPO SYNC" solved the issue. And whenever I press CUE one the Master song I don't get the same error like I used to.

Now the error is clear. If you press CUE to stop the track (which will jump back to the last cue point, which is probably right on a beat) while you are not exactly on beat before pressing CUE, the synced track tries to stay on beat as well, glitching if you didn't accurately press CUE to the beat. This is completely normal behavior. You can replicate this glitchy behaviourby jumping to a hotcue without quant enabled.

PAUSE is the usual way to prevent this when using beat sync.

With the tempo sync setting, the synced deck only conserves the tempo, not the beat phase so there will be no trouble. But you have to have an eye on the synced deck's beatphase and adjust the phase with the jogwheel side if you are not on beat.

MASTER CLOCK is at the centre top. Right next to AUTO you can see if the internal clock is the MASTER CLOCK (instead of any deck).

    Glad you got this solved.
