As of right now - there is no specific pricing in place, although I expect generous price promotions during the holiday season.

What do you mean? An MK3 HW price discount for owners of MK2/Maschine V3?
NI never did anything of that nature before, so highly unlikely that it happens or that you get a straight answer, especially before release. We dont even know the price or release date yet.

Apogee Digital has done a trade-in program. Their most recent trade-in program was the Symphony Mk II trade-in program. "From August 1st to September 15, 2024, you can trade in your eligible Apogee product and receive up to $1,000 credit towards the purchase of a Symphony Mk II."
Perhaps NI can do something like that for all Maschine MK1, Maschine MK2, Maschine Mikro MK1, and Maschine Mikro MK2 owners.

Here's the thing - even if they did make the MK3 controller slightly cheaper without the software, you'd still have to pay to upgrade Maschine s/w from 2 to 3.

NI should be doing trade in deals on all the hardware it makes that it stops supporting. This is the best way to both encourage existing users to upgrade and to reward them for using your products in the first place.
NI has a regrettable record of dumping its hardware products after relatively short periods, leaving users with no upgrade path or options other than staying put and never upgrading (which is bad for NI) or spending lots of money repeatedly buying new NI products with equally dismal shelf lives (which is bad for NI customers).

Relatively short periods? Maschine MK2 is twelve years old, and they're dropping support in November (but only in the new software).
The Maschine Studio (which is a youngster at 11 years old) is still supported.

Yeah but thats HW worth about 5000$, the old ones can easily be refurbished and resold… While an MK2 is not only peanuts in price comparison but also cant be resold by the company as it's discontinued / EOL. Also note that those "up to XYZ" rarely reach the claimed max discount. Apple does this aswell and they give you about 100 for your 1000$ phone, you're better off selling the old one in the used market… Pretty much anything from phones to cars rarely give you anything decently fair back.
Some kind of loyalty discount would be cool, but tame those expectations towards the SW side of things, or expect at best 50$ discounts for a HW that costed you 500$

Personally I sold my Studio for $400+- in the used market so my Mk3 costed me just an extra $200, if you update to the current gen early you can do it for cheap this way while last gen is still worth something, if you wait 16 years then your old HW is virtually worthless.

It would be helpful if Native Instruments could clarify whether they plan to release a MK4 in the near future. I’m open to upgrading from my Maschine MK2, but I’d prefer to avoid buying the MK3 now only to find out a MK4 is about to be released.
