How to Init Massive X

Hi,

From the guide:
"To get started, load the preset named Init - Massive X Blank from the Quickstart category in the preset menu."

This looks to be based on an older preset browser in Massive X, there is no QuickStart category or any preset named Init in my version of Massive X 1.4.4

So, how do you initialise a new patch now?

    Thanks. Solved.
Turns out a ‘re-install” does not equal and un-install, then “install”.

A “re-install” does not overwrite the application support folder if exists, where a fresh install after in-install does.

Solved anyway, I have those presets back. Thank’s.

I can create a new instance. which creates an initialised "blank" patch. But for the life of me I can see anyway in the UI like the usual right click on preset name, to reset to default.

    The info is correct:

Have you tried "Rescan Content" (click on the ▼ next to the logo)?

    @Monochrome Yeah tried a rescan.

I'll try a re-install, as I have definitely seen those QuickStart presets in the past, but they no longer appear present in my install (image),

    Still no joy after a re-install and a re-scan.
Also wondering how @Monochrome does not see the std version Libraries in his UI even if they purchased no additional expansions? Am I in some sort of different browsing mode?

I can only assume at some version, those quick start presets were replaced with this "patch and play" library.

Nice starters, but should really have the old bare bones initialisers in there if thats the case.

The libraries disappear because they do not contain the Quickstart presets. If you click on a category tag (e.g. Percussion), only libraries that contain percussion-type presets will show up etc…

    Normal:

    Category chosen:

I, too, have Patch and Play ones, yet can see Quickstart just fine. So… that can't be it 😅

Strange that it won't show on your side. What if you type "init" into the Search bar?

Also, what is your OS and DAW?

@Monochrome Thanks for clarifying. So there is something wrong here indeed.

I have tried a search for init, but that entire category of presets no longer exist on my install.

I also realized that a reinstall of massive x was probably futile, as they’d likely be in the factory library, so re-installed that as well, to no avail. There just gone 🤷‍♂️

Anyway ‘Feature request” right click preset name in top bar to reveal basic init option.

@Monochrome or anyone, could I ask a favour. Could you right click one of those init presets I'm missing, revealing "show in finder" and tell me the path there are supposed to exist please.

As I'm on Windows, they are under C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Massive X\Presets. I think on Mac they are under Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Massive X > Presets?!
