Beginner Friendly: Using NI Reaktor Blocks as an infinitely creative audio effect
While the idea of using the Reaktor may seem too complicated to many at first, it's actually not that scary and is definitely worth it because you can get some really unique effects. As with many things, it is convenient to start with something simple that quickly gives tangible results.
So, you can use Reaktor as an insert effect, just like you do with your other plugins.
Once you have added the Reaktor as an effect to the track you want, click EDIT button (1) in the upper part of Reaktor interface. Now go to the Blocks folder (2) and choose any effects block you like and simply drag and drop it to the right blank area.
You'll see two audio inputs (1) from the left side from the block you dragged. And two audio outputs (2) from the right side. In order for the sound to flow through the audio path, you need to connect the elements together. Just like in the real world with musical instruments, you need to connect them with wires. Simply click on the first audio input on the left and drag a wire into the audio input of your effect. Then click on the audio output of your effect and drag a wire into the first audio output on the right. That's it. The sound is now flowing through the effect you created.
Important point. When using different blocks, you will notice that some of them, like filters, have only one audio input. This means that it is a mono effect. If you want to make it a stereo effect, simply drag another block of the same type down under this effect. Having duplicated the block in this way, connect it with wires to the second remaining audio input and audio output, just like you did with the first block. That's it. It is now a stereo effect.
This is the basics of how you can make an effect using blocks. Now you can drag and drop effect blocks from the many available in the library and assemble your own unique effect. Use as many blocks as you want. Create chains. Since this is modular, the only limitation is your imagination. Drag the blocks and connect them with wires. Combine any blocks in any way. Experiment. Modulate the parameters to make things even more interesting. Well, that's all for now. Have fun.
