Selecting Browse Mode Hardware

I'm using an S88 MK1, so I have to use KK 2.6.9, which is fine, but I'm still not understanding some of the instructions. Re: the scrnshot below, I found the Prefs page under the Edit menu, but it takes me no further than that. Where's the Kybd page, etc?

TBH the "hardware browse mode" on the MK1 is not all that useful compared to the OSD popup you get. The A and M series ONLY allow browsing on the screen on those and it is dreadfully slow.

There are some features that you can only access in the preferences when you use Komplete Kontrol in the standalone desktop app so try launch the desktop app and see if you have that page available to you. Note that if you switch to Hardware Browse mode you will no longer see the OSD popup to browse on-screen.

Thanks Jester. Actually, I was just trying to find out ANYTHING about how to get around and get the most out of it. Whether it's H'ware Browse, or OSD, I don't know how to do either. I couldn't find the pages that the manual was referring to. I can assure you I'll be coming back for more advice.

    Thanks,

    George

Ok, so OSD browser means when you press the Browse button a nice large popup appears on your computer screen where you can drag it wherever you like (useful for multi monitor setups) and it's a browser driven by the controls on your keyboard. The "Hardware" browse option instead uses the LCD strip to show the browser but being a single LCD line it's very limited, unlike the MK2 and MK3 keyboards that have the LCD screens that can display artwork and more presets to see.

I note in your OP you say you have V2.6.9, is this correct or did you mean you have KK v2.9.6 (last version of KK V2)?

Indeed, it IS ver. 2.9.6. So, nothing happens when I boot my S88, and the Browse button lights up; I press it and nothing happens. Just an FYI, The LCD knobs read the following:

    1.) All Vendors

    2.) All Products

    5.) All Types

    7.) All Chrctrs

    8.) - NKS Init -

Yeah so that sounds like hardware browse mode. The knobs above each of those would then change the filter for that category.

To get the preferred OSD browser you need to change that mentioned option to OSD so see if that is possible by launching the desktop version of KK.

    Jester,

I've never been able to pull up KK in OSD mode; although, I have been able to see the Guide Lights, and most everything else. But every time I go to that Navigation Menu (which, BTW, the manual never implies that) there's no option to change from Hardware. It's just grayed out.

    Thanks,

    George

No ideas then, you would likely have to raise a ticket with NI but sadly, the MK1 and KK V2 is now unsupported so likely they won't assist.

    Any suggestions?

Can you at least post a full screenshot showing the desktop app and the preference setting as you see it just so we can be sure it is as you say?

Other than that, all I can suggest is as I already suggested and raise a ticket with support direct (FYI, I am not support nor have any affiliation with NI)

Sorry Jester. I'm positive I created a ticket for that. That's why I replied the way I did. I've already turned my DAW off for the night. I'll send that documentation tomorrow.

@KingKonga Already replied to you in another thread. This is not a ticket, you're on the user forum and not our support section. https://bit.ly/NI_support_Kontrol
