Remix Decks - can only trigger the first 4 samples with the S4Mk3 ???

Hi, new to the S8 and traktor. All works fine, exept the remixdecks. The samples usually play at a random speed andit's always a hassle to get them working as they should. But the most frustrating thing to me is that apparently, of the 16 sample slots, you can only trigger the first four with the s8, all others must be done with the mouse in the software??? At least, I cannot find ANY reference in the manual nor online HOW to trigger those 12 other slots with the S8…

If there is a way, I would love to hear it. If not, that is plain ridiculous.

Edit: corrected title (by Sûlherokhh)

    Ugh…

Worst thing is that I read over that part of he manual multiple times.

So this is sorted, for which I thank you. Should've slowed down and read less hastily.

But it still leaves the tempo issues, samples keep starting at random speed. Toggling the sync button seems to mitigate it but it is cumbersome and apparently it don't matter if the syn button ends up being toggled on or off, you always need to toggle it to get samples to play at their normal tempo.

But I read somewhere that it is a bug or something?

Are you talking about deck sync or sample sync? The latter can't be toggled with the S4, only with the F1 or using the mouse.

Either way, ever since the stem generation integration the remix deck samples have some problems that NI is working on at the moment.

It is this one here marked with the red arrow: you need to toggle it for every loaded sample, otherwise the tempo is skewed.

There is also keylock for every slot, one of the 4 blue bars right above the sample stripe, this is necessary if the tempo of the deck is not +/- 0%, as in your case (you have +3.3%), when sample sync is ON and the sample is therefore playing slower or faster. If both are OFF, it is important to not have the deck tempo vary too much from 0% or all bets are off what tempo the samples get played. I do this by having the deck's BPM be about the same as my average SET BPM. You can double click on the BPM (in your case the number 120.00 in the header) to change it to, for example, 125.00. I have all my techno remix sets at 125, my dubstep remix sets at 140, even if i use the same remix set i change the BPM to trick Traktor into behaving with this.

that's a screen i pulled from the web since my traktor laptop is offline. I do have the deck's bpm synced to the rest of the set's average bpm when i'm mixing, but still samples loaded in the slots need to have that sync button toggled or they play either way too slow or way too fast.

Already got used to just toggle it and be done. Only have to set it once and then i save the remix set. I can live with it. :p

Thank you kindly for the help <3

There are two BPM's. The bottom BPM is the Remix SET BPM, the top BPM is the DECK BPM. You must adjust the Remix SET BPM manually (double click on it), so that those two numbers don't differ much; in effect you limit the tempo to be less than +/-2%; if it's above that, samples may ignore keylock and sound off.
