Unusably buggy

Hello,

Just got my new S88 and am excited to get it going but I'm having a weird issue with the setup. I followed all of the steps online by activating my serial code, installing the hardware connection services, and updated the firmware. When I open up logic and kontakt it is so buggy that it is unusable. My keyboard will randomly scroll through presets and none of the knobs work to scroll through my browser or do anything else. I did enter the activation code in native access 3 times to see if that would fix my issue and now I'm wondering if that would be the issue maybe? Or maybe I'm just missing something simple. If someone could help me out that would be great. Thanks!!

    Thanks.

    And which version of Logic/Kontakt?

FWIW - there have been some noted bugs with this specific combo discussed in the forums recently.

Might be time to submit a ticket to NI support and have them look into it.

How does everything work if you just use Komplete Kontrol and the keyboard and leave the DAW out of it? At least that would isolate one element that may be causing the problems.

Apparently there are issues with KK in Logic. I am not a mac user with KK so can't confirm but at the moment it's 1 step forward with features and 2 steps back with stability and reliability so it's a take a ticket and have a seat, you may be waiting a while.

There could be a variety of things happening. Try all of the following:

Logic 11.0.1 and newer fixed some critical bugs

    • Ensure you're running Logic 11.0.1 or newer. If you're running any lower versions, including 10, then unfortunately you may still be affected by these bugs.
    • You already are, but for the benefit of other users, the following must all be updated too:
      • KK3 to the latest version
      • K7 or K8 to the latest version
      • NI Hardware Connection Service to the latest version
      • Kontrol S MK3 firmware to the latest version
      • macOS to version 14.6 or newer (note that 15 is not yet officially supported)

    MIDI 2 isn't yet stable

    • Ensure Logic is in MIDI 1 mode, not MIDI 2 mode. You may change this in the Logic preferences.
    • Ensure KSMK3 is in MIDI 1 mode, not MIDI 2 mode. You may change this in the hardware settings on-device.

Your computer might be experiencing a USB-C data communication issue

    • Some machines will sporadically drop data when communicating with USB-C peripherals (such as KSMK3) when connected directly to a USB-C port on the computer. This will manifest with many of the symptoms you describe, as the data isn't always getting through the pipe.
    • Try using a powered USB-C hub in between the peripheral (such as KSMK3) and the USB-C port on the computer. This is a known workaround for affected computers, as it bypasses the problematic implementation.

Your computer is not providing enough power

    • If by chance, you're connecting via a USB-C to USB-A cable or connection, please instead try USB-C to USB-C (also note the second issue mentioned above) and/or power the keyboard via it's auxiliary power port on the back, whilst still connecting the data port to your computer (the lightning bolt one).

Your USB bus may be getting overwhelmed

    • Powering the keyboard via the auxiliary port may help (see third issue mentioned above), but you may also try unplugging other peripherals from your USB ports to see if this happens to be affecting the overall throughput.

Note to other forum users who've responded above: these 5 steps (particularly steps 1/2/3) solve almost all issues we see users experience on macOS environments, should you encounter other users in the wild before I am able to get to them. Thanks!

OP only said "Native Access 2" and doesn't even give a version number for Komplete Kontrol or the MK3 driver he has installed.

That's not enough for me, should the conversation veer in any of those directions.

Full version numbers, and please get them from "Help/About". Thank you.
