How do I register an old piece of equipment, I found in an abandoned storage unit, but the serial number is worn off?

Without serial number you won‘t get it registered at all. But usually NI hardware works without registration if you have the right software in your account.

As example if you already have a Traktor licence because you bought it standalone or got it with another controller you can just connect an additional Traktor controller unregistered and it works. As I got my Kontrol F1 there was no need to register it becausje I already had Traktor installed and running.

Of course depending on what gear you found maybe there is an interresting software bundle bound to it. But you can even buy Maschine software if necessary - you can find the link here in the community or with Google because it is a bit hidden.
