Hi guys, i have a brand new S61Mk3. Some of the keys dont register any sound, but it will then register a sound if i press the octave button. I cant make sense of it. ive tried switching from using Komplete Kontrol to Kontact 7 bvut theres no difference.

The S61 MK3 can not produce any sound on it's own. I produces MIDI data which external software (like Kontakt) uses to produce sounds. I suspect that you may have chosen an instrument in Kontakt that only plays a limited range of notes. Generally, a violin only plays high range, a bass only plays in a low range, etc. That would explain why changing the octave setting of the MK3 takes you to the instrument's playable range. Also very common with percussion. Most synthesizer instruments, or pianos, will sound across the default range of the S61

thanks for responding. Its the same across whatever instrument. Also, theres sound triggering on keys before and after the “dead keys”. Its always tthese one particular key

There’s a couple of things you can check.
Firstly, while in Kontakt, you can check on the bottom virtual keyboard if those particular keys are “empty” or not (on the virtual keyboard you can see colors assigned to keys, the white ones are not used).
Secondly, and most important maybe… I don’t know if for MK3 is the same, but previous versions had different ports:
KOMPLETE KONTROL - 1 is for the USB MIDI port
KOMPLETE KONTROL EXT - 1 is the MIDI 5 din port, if you connect another MIDI device to the MIDI input.
Komplete Kontrol DAW - 1 is for integrating with DAWs like Ableton, Logic, Cubase, etc...
Check under Output port and Input port, where I see you have arrows, therefore I suppose there are choices to do.
Between: have you noticed you have 2 different available selections for Kontrol S61? What you are showing us is Kontrol S61 MK3 #2…try to check #1 (unless you have 2 S61 MK3)

@RumRootsReggae Please open Komplete Kontrol in standalone. Select this MIDI port only as input:
You can also deactivate all outputs.
Now if you open Komplete Kontrol in standalone, all the keys work? And the buttons stop producing notes? Then in Cubase, does that fix the issue?

@RumRootsReggae Sorry I meant Logic!
One important thing to check is what happens in Kontakt or in Komplete Kontrol in standalone if the issue also occurs. this will determine if it's coming from the NI software/keyboard or from the DAW. So how does it behave in standalone?
If the issue only occurs in Logic, please note that the integration process should be automatic, as outlined here: How to Integrate Your Kontrol Keyboard with Your DAW
What you can try is to delete these 2 files:
Macintosh HD/Users/Username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs
Macintosh HD/Users/Username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic10.plist (this one resets Logic to default so take note of any user setting you want to keep)
Note: the User Library folder is hidden. To access it, click on Go in the menu bar and press down the Alt key. You'll now find the Library entry in the menu:

None of this works, including deleting the two files. iT appearas that when i run Kontakt 7 or Komplete Kontrol as a stand alone, then the notes work fine. Its only when it tries to integrate with Logic pro that i have problems. Also, i dont know why output is set at surround 7.1. I wonder if this is an issue?
Its very frustrating as i have an expensive midi keyboard that i cant use

Meanwhile, when i run it thought the standalone app, (WITHOUT GOING THROUGH LOGIC) it appears to work fine.

So bizarre! When i open up this menu in the LOGIC Pro , all of a sudden the keys work again! when i click "close" the keys stop working again. Whether i select ignore or respond (as the options above), its the same

It is bizarre indeed. Also there seems to be several issues.
- Kontakt and the outputs.
Open Kontakt 7 in Logic, choose Rack view
Then select Outputs:
Then open this menu and choose Reset output section for AU plug-ins.
That should fix the outputs of Kontakt in Logic.

Now for MIDI in Komplete Kontrol / Kontakt.
First of all make sure to give full disk access to Logic, Kontakt 7 and Komplete Kontrol: How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS
Reinstall Komplete Kontrol.
Close Logic and delete the cs file again. Open Logic.
- Connect the Kontrol MK3 keyboard to your computer and switch it on.
- Start the Logic Pro application.
- When asked for confirmation if you want to automatically assign controls of your Kontrol S MK3, click Auto Assign.
It should look like this afterwards:
Are all host integration functions working? The mixer, play/stop, etc…?
Can you check on the keyboard is set to MIDI 1.0 or MIDI 2.0?
If it is set to MIDI 2.0, please set it to MIDI 1.0
You should get this message:
Turn your keyboard off. Go to your Applications → Utilities and open Audio & MIDI setup, go to Window, show MIDI studio
Delete the MK3 entry.
Connect the keyboard, open Logic. Is it working now?
